I went to a Rays game in June. Everything they say about the stadium and location are 100 percent true. Very weird location not just in terms of whats around it but just inconvenient for the area as a whole. The Trop really is also a dump, a wonderful dump that I enjoyed because it was a dump but a dump nonetheless.

It’s all just shitty. I’m usually all for local govt playing hard ball with franchises on new stadiums….but local gov’t there is being moronic playing chicken here.

They have a really solid franchise there now. And that’s all they have.

Dad gets a game in skybox once a summer from his broker. I’ve gone to a few. The last few years I’ve turned it down. The drive sucks from Orlando (and it’s not much better from anywhere in Hillsborough-Tampa’s county). The vicinity around the stadium is gross as fuck. You lock the doors and scoot coming in and leaving.

And all that might be worth it….except the stadium is an absolute dump.

Yeah, St. Pete are being real dicks about it. I think they're locked in until like 2026 or something. Hillsborough/Tampa would probably have built them a new stadium already if not for St. Pete being asses. Around 2025/26 I look for either A) they move to a new stadium in Tampa, or B) they relocate.

I haven’t read up on it for a while. But I thought the Hillsborough folks were being too rigid too.

The incumbent county will hold a lease….totally get it. 10k a game is still revenue for the city.

They know it’s a few more years. There is probably time to bluff and still have a new stadium in time. But, it’s coming up on time they will need to blink and just build it.

A nice new stadium in Ybor would be amazing!!
