Rank Your Top 10 CFB Programs of All Time

The debate between Oklahoma and Ohio State is a good one. OU has 50 conference championships to Osu's 40. OU has 7 Heisman trophy winners to Osu's 6. OU has a 29 - 23 bowl record to Ohio States 22 - 24.
I agree it's close, but I think OP has it right.

OSU - 931-326-53 (1st)
OU - 917-329-53 (6th)

Ohio State “only” has two natties in the time frame, but they’ve been the most consistently good team in my life time. Don’t like em, but have to respect em

I agree. So no Oregon or Nebraska on the list
I can understand the sour grapes carrying over, but no self-respecting person would have Nebraska off of the list. Nebraska is top 10 in record, ccs, bowls, wins, consensus all americans, heismans, draft picks, weeks ranked, and weeks ranked #1.....

you can have your opinion be whatever you want, but doesn't mean anyone will respect it.

All time lists are about sustained success. If you spent the last two decades being mediocre or worse, you aren’t an all time great, you’re a has been

I know. But winsipedia also says Iowa has 5 national titles and EVERYONE knows that is a joke. Iowa is lucky to claim one since LSU is the rightful winner that year.
The polls not factoring in bowl games lead to a lot of illegitimate titles back in the day. Like in 64 when Arky was undefeated, with a win over Texas, while Bama lost to Texas in the Sugar Bowl, yet both polls crowned Bama as champs

as much as you would like it to, 2 decades does not erase the other 10. As already shown, Nebraska has done poorly the last 20 years compared to their history and yet are still in the top ten in numerous categories. That is because of eras of domination, something Oregon knows nothing about. Your best two decades are only 30 wins better than our worst.

and again, no self-respecting person that is stating their actual opinion would not have Nebraska in their all time list. But you do you.

Oh I understand, that is the whole basis of me challenging Ohio St and Texas for the 1970 title. They both lost their bowl games to lower ranked teams than Nebraskas yet both claim natty, while Nebraska went undefeated including their bowl game.... thus the rightful 1970 natty winner.

My memory might be off, but it wasn’t until the last 5 years or so that Nebraska became a dumpster fire. They were at least competitive most of the millennium IIRC

Again, you keep comparing Nebraska to Oregon. You seem to be the only one doing that. You can't be an all time great if you don't have a single conference championship this century. That's asinine.

One of the greatest runs? Of course.

All time great program? They aren't in my top 10. They need to sustain their success a lot better. Look at Ohio State. They've won a conference championship in every decade since 1900. That's what being an all time great is all about. Not making a great run and then falling off a cliff when the coach retired.

Semi-true. We had the "wins" just none of them against good competition and got blown out too often as well.

1. TEXAS
2. SEE 1

So does Florida.
I thought you were referring to Tennessee.

Florida has a case, but they’ve had a program a lot longer than FSU, and they have many more years of being irrelevant in their history.

But I do think I’m gonna put Miami over Tennessee on my list now

Why? Especially when you have 46 all time? What is asinine is disregarding all time stats in an all time discussion because of recency bias.

This is a joke right? Again, top ten in wins, in weeks ranked, in weeks ranked #1, in bowls, in conference titles, in all americans, in draft picks... Multiple decades of domination. Recently sucks and like @Illustrious Potentate pointed out, the last 5 years are the ones that have been really bad.

If they aren't in your top ten "all time", because they haven't had a conference title since 1999 then that nonsense is on you. Please list your top ten, I would like to see your justification.

There are plenty of programs who have maintained success. The Ivy's had a great run as well. So did programs like Minnesota and Pittsburgh but they came to an end. All time Greats never came to an end.

Dewd, he's trolling you. He's not even well informed enough to generate a list.
