Redo the conferences here

If you had the ability to arrange the teams into conferences of your choice, how would you do it? Here are mine (most may resemble past conferences prior to expansion).

I am also a fan of moving the non-power 5 conferences down to the FCS level. If a team can go undefeated and not make the playoffs, they don't belong in the FBS level. Basically the teams not listed here should be moved down to FCS level. Goal is to have 8-9 Conference games (only 14 team league play 9 conference games) and only allow 2 games against FCS level forcing at each team to play at least one OOC game against a Power 6 team, 2 if they have 4 OOC options.

For football, only one P5 conference Only members in that group would be the schools that can "pay their way" without having to make a lot of effort to do so. And no one act like they don't know who those are. (They ain't necessarily the best football teams right now. But they don't even has as big financial problems even in this environment.)

While it may sound nice to claim TV revenue is shared equally which levels the playing field, TOTAL revenue/resources ain't even close to being equal. No way Texas Tech will ever have the total resources available to them that Texas and A&M have. Neither will any other school in this state. Ain't gonna happen.

Then there would probably be three more divisions for football grouped according to how deep each school's pockets can be without taking from academia.

Align schools for other sports in a way that makes sense.
 
If we are going to hypothetically redo conferences, I don't really want to just add a few G5 teams. Either create super conferences or go back to smaller, regional conferences.

Yup, six 10 team conferences IMO. Round robin schedule to determine the champion.
 
I have actually always preferred the 8 conference games and 4 non-conference game schedule. It gets boring playing the same teams all along. I do think teams should be pushed to play at least 50% of their OOC games against other Power 5 teams.

If we are redoing conferences then I'm starting off by reducing the number and increasing the schools in them.

I was very close to sticking Memphis and Tulane in the Big East but then thought, nah. Neither have been that dynamic to be Power 5.
