Big12 has laid AALLLLL that nonsense to rest once and for all.

We tried to tell those believers that there was not enough talent depth to do that week to week in a P5. Lookin at you Cincy, BYU, Houston under Herman, UCFacts IMG_1308.gif

We tried to tell yall, it’s harder than we make it look.

Cincinnati is in rebuilding mode after a historical run through college football. It takes a little time to replace one of the top 5 coaches in CFB and an All American quarterback who started for 4 years.

Within 2 years Cincinnati will owe the Big 12 and you can go ahead pencil them in for the playoffs every year.

In 2 years, that’s a G7 conference.

Why will they still owe the B12 after 2 years? Was the invite that crappy even after Texas left?

They were a big fish in a little pond, a BigEast leftover that made good on its situation similar to WVU in a weakened BigEast, and… nothing wrong with that but now they see (same as WVU did) just how ludicrous it is for those G5 people to act like that those teams could just waltz right in to the P5 level and roll.
I’m not saying that someday some of these programs can’t recruit/develop/work their way to a conference championship or even a playoff appearance ect. Now that they are in the P5 but… it’s gonna take awhile cause, it’s just different at this level.

meh
Utah went 8-5 in their first year in the Pac before 2 5-7 years then havent had a lossing seasons since (minus 2020)
TCU won the BigXII in their 3rd year. theyve had more up and down tho.
Louisville came from 11-2 Big East to 12-1 American to 9-4 ACC and had 4 bowl seasons in the ACC before a bad one.

Meh - Utah had a losing record in the PAC their first year and didn’t have 8-1 Oregon or 8-1 Stanford on their schedule. It took them awhile to build up.IMG_5392.jpeg

TCU who were in a midst of a good run with Patterson in the MWC, had trouble his first year in the Big12 too.. You can have a solid team that are 1 deep..but they found out that even the struggling schools at this level have decent depth
