Reunion Baseball Draft : CHAT

I did text the invisible man!

If you have a tennis ball then you don't need gloves. Everyone did have a glove we weren't growing up in a third world country.

You just said you and all of your friends played little league, if that's true then you all had gloves, lolzzz

In my childhood if someone suggested basketball we would have laughed at them and pushed them down!
Actually pretty much all my friends growing up were the same, all about baseball, even though pretty much everyone played multple sports. I went to a summer camp every year and they had acres in the back. You could ride bikes, they had a bball court, open field area to do whatever, playground and everyone was out there playing baseball. Just set up bases and we would pick teams. No gloves, tennis ball and a wooden bat. Once in a while we would play basketball but really it was all about baseball

They wouldn’t let us play with a hardball, too dangerous and lot of kids getting in the way playing so it wasn’t like super competitive. We would definitely zing that tennis ball though. If you pegged someone running the bases they were out too, so a lot of losers running to an adult crying LOL

Honestly, just because my life was about baseball as a kid doesn't mean i'm against basketball. It's just that IMO baseball is the best sport in the history of the planet and I can't imagine wanting to play basketball instead. My first love was baseball!

Have y'all watched MLW on youtube? If you haven't you should, i'm freakin' addicted to it.

My brother and I were known to play, just the two of us. We'd use imaginary fielders, so if a ball was hit on the ground directly where the SS should be, you were out - otherwise you had to chase the ball down after it was hit. We'd pull line ups from baseball magazines and hit whichever way the batter was listed (though we tended to choose RHP for some reason :dhd:)

That looks fun as hell!

That reminds me, I used to mimic different players stances and sometimes in games me and a buddy would do it just for fun lol

We did too, when Griffey came up it was always interesting watching 2 white RHHs try to mimic Griffey's left handed swing. :headbanger:

We can do a playoff like always, but in an open draft like this one, it's gonna be impossible. Already, nearly every team has a legit argument. How about everyone sends Nos their top 3 batting lineups....3 points for 1st, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd. Same thing for best pitching staff and then the same thing best combination of both. Combination vote gets 5 for 1st 4 for 2nd and 3 for 3rd. You cannot vote for your own team. Just a thought.
Or we can do playoffs. Get your coins ready

Wasn't the last thing we did was have three people decide, like we did rankings like that and whoever finished bottom three decided the outcome? Honestly, whatever you guys want is fine with me.

In truth, the open drafts to me are a lot of fun, even though it's super hard to judge.

We have done lots of restriction drafts over the years but I can't remember if he have ever done one by stat levels.
Like, each team can have 2 players that averaged 40HR per 165, 2 with 30-39, 2 with 20-29, 2 with 10-19 and 1 under 10. Pitching by 162 average as well, 2 16+ wins per season, 2 with 12-15 and 1 11 and under. Same thing with saves

My brother and I did the same thing. In grade school, we lived super-rural. No close neighbors, one room school house the whole bit. Playing baseball was our main activity from mid March until the snow flew in the fall. Both of us grew up with strong arms. I am convinced it is because we would throw so damn much when we were younger. Even invented ways to throw a ball. Baseball was on the radio then and very rarely on TV.(this was in the 50s.) When I heard of the knuckleball, I thought they meant gripping the ball with your knuckles. Eventually learned different, but it still remained my grip for a changeup in high school

Serra High School in the Bay Area has to be the most decorated in terms of accomplishment of their athletes. And it’s basically just two guys:

Barry Bonds
Tom Brady

What a career for Brady.

Highland Park in Dallas has done rather well putting out athletes.
