The Spiders avoid the upset and defeat the young, plucky Wildcats on the road.

UK just isn't that talented. They have 2 high level recruits in Boston and Clarke, but after that not another top 30 FR. Sarr is a good big, but I don't think he's an NBA guy or anything.

It's tough to count on guys ranked 30-70 as true FR to try and win games. Plus they are not getting anything out of Toppin or Mintz.

Richmond was an 8 pt dog and I almost peed myself trying to get money on them as fast as I could

The amount of awful 1st's by UK yesterday is nauseating. They have a long way to go. They have absolutely no offense to speak of and played AAU ball while Richmond just steadily picked them apart.

It's hard to rely on a ton of freshmen. If you are going to take that ballsy approach, you better have 4-5 top 20 guys.

This year just keeps getting worse.

Yeah the only 2 predominantly FR teams to win titles in the 1 and done era were UK 2012 and Duke 2015. Duke had the #1(Okafor), #8(Jones), #13(Winslow) and #25(Allen) as FR. As a whole, higher regarded than this UK class. But they also had Quinn Cook, Matt Jones and Amile Jefferson who were top 40 kids out of high school and were a senior, sophomore and junior, respectively. UK's upperclassmen consist of a 3 star transfer from Wake Forest, an unrated player from Rhode Island who was a backup and a 3 star from Creighton who avg 10 ppg as a junior there. They just done have the elite FR, or the experience of really talent players. I think they'll probably be somewhere between where their 2013 team and 2014 teams were. Which was an NIT team and then the 2014 team was an 8 seed(in their defense they did make the title game, but they weren't a good regular season team). That team had much better FR though IMO.

referring to Sarr's rating out of HS is weird, because this is his fourth year in college. He averaged 14 PPG/9 RPG on a 53% FG last year in the ACC. He's a traitor that needs to be fed to a pack of wild animals, but he's still a good player.

I was just trying to keep it consistent with the comparisons. He is a good player. The other 2 UK transfers aren't that good, and don't fill a role that this UK teams too. Wasn't meant as a disrespect to Sarr. Just when comparing the upperclassmen on this UK team to the Duke 2015 team, I don't think it's all that close. He'll probably put up similar production to what Jefferson did at the end of his career if I had to guess. But Mintz and Toppin won't provide what Cook and Jones did. Cook was the 2nd leading scorer and shot 40% from 3.

This year , maybe more than any other in my 43 years , I think upperclassmen and experience will be huge. Given how this season will likely involve stops and starts , twists and turns, unexpected shit on short notice etc youre going to need mental toughness and players who can deal with all of the unknown

Meaning ... Iowa is going to be awesome? Lol.

It seems true. Nova lost their best player so their expectations were based who was expected to be healthy and step up. And so far, injuries and the same players bricking layups and only being spot up shooters despite being Top 50 rectuirs.

I also thought TBH Gonzaga's ranking was high because they lost a shitload. But their guys have stepped up.

I was actually thinking more about mid major type teams ( like Richmond ) since thats who the thread is about lol. But I will happily accept Iowa being awesome too

Ok, I think for the safety of the players it's time to cancel CBB due to covid.

This has nothing to do with my favorite CBB team looking like a middle school team that just found a half-inflated ball in the woods and are trying to figure out what it does.

Ugh. 2015. That was the nearly undefeated team.
