I still think it’s a joke that Rivera was the first to be unanimously voted in. Not that he’s not deserving, just all the guys before that had no votes, and the first one was a closer.Highest HOF voting % in history before Mariano and Jeter came along.
I think it's a joke that it took that long to get unanimous votes for the HOF. Sanctimonious idiot sportswriters kept this going at least 30 years longer than necessary, along with the stupid "first-ballot" crap.I still think it’s a joke that Rivera was the first to be unanimously voted in. ...and not even the greatest closer in the history of the game. Hells bells!I still think it’s a joke that Rivera was the first to be unanimously voted in. Not that he’s not deserving, just all the guys before that had no votes, and the first one was a closer.
Agreed. You either think they deserve to be in and vote for them, or you don't.I think it's a joke that it took that long to get unanimous votes for the HOF. Sanctimonious idiot sportswriters kept this going at least 30 years longer than necessary, along with the stupid "first-ballot" crap.
There hasn't been 10 candidates on the ballot that are "no-doubt" guys in almost 30 years. At this point, it should be about which fringe guys get in, and practically all the legit no doubters should be on every writer's ballot. I'd buy blank ballots until Beltre shows up. And, as much as I think Jeter gets overblown, there's no argument I can accept for not voting him into the Hall.Agreed. You either think they deserve to be in and vote for them, or you don't. I can understand leaving someone off if you have a full ballot and you're voting for someone who might fall off in favor of someone who is a virtual slam dunk candidate.
And then there's the blank ballots.
Cant believe the Mets had Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan
Still odd to me a guy like Maddux wasn't unanimous.I still think it’s a joke that Rivera was the first to be unanimously voted in. Not that he’s not deserving, just all the guys before that had no votes, and the first one was a closer.
There’s a bunch that should have been unanimous long before Rivera. Ruth, Aaron, Mays, etcStill odd to me a guy like Maddux wasn't unanimous.
