I was first introduced to Toots and the Maytals via The Harder They Come soundtrack. Keef had mentioned it in an interview and I bought the album.

That was pure reggae, not watered down crap. RIP Toots Hibbert

I've seen the Maytals lots of times through the years..and recently, 2 yrs ago here in SF.
They always put on a great show.
Toots was an amazing front man...and social activist.
He'll definitely be missed.
