Val Kilmer (Batman Forever, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Saint, The Snowman, Top Gun, Willow) has died at age 65. He had had serious health issues for years from cancer complications but died from pneumonia.
 
The role he played in Top Gun got him noticed and he made a slapstick comedy soon afterwards and because of that many people viewed him as just another actor of his generation. But when he took the lead role in The Doors movie and then his portrayal of Doc Holiday in Tombstone movie he changed some minds. Those characters he portrayed was a testament to his ability to make the character he’s pretending to be so believable. I don’t think anyone could have played those two characters any better than Val Kilmer did.
 
Huge bummer. Heat and The Saint were a couple of my favorite movies when I was younger.

If you are talking about "Top Secret" that was before "Top Gun".
