The Titans already faced a potentially significant punishment for alleged protocol breaches that fueled an outbreak of COVID-19. Given the news that the team apparently gathered to practice last week after expressly being told not to do so, the Titans could be facing a consequence the likes of which the NFL has never seen.

There’s buzz in league circles of possible “historic” punishment for the Titans given the various violations.

“Especially if Troy [Vincent] was the one that told them not to practice,” one league source opined.

I mean they are good, but I wouldn't call them orgasmic. :noidea:

Specifically told not to practice and did anyways, and now there are more infections. Taking away an entire draft might be in the books but I bet this goes further and is a lengthy ban for the coach and GM. NO contact with the team for a year.

i can see forfeiting a draft, or 1st and 2nd rounders.

coaches banned for a year as you said.

Current thinking is he‘ll strip two draft picks from the Patriots...just because.

Possibly forfeiting games too. That seems like appropriate punishment to me. Instead of trying to cram make-up games in, just give TEN free losses and the other teams free wins. It would be pretty crippling to TEN if games against BUF and PIT are forfeit and those teams get the free wins along with free tie breaks.

Any game forfeits would have to come with taking away picks on the first two days of the draft. Otherwise they benefit from better draft pick. Who cares if they have a slightly better pick in the 4th-7th round.

Could also make them draft last in every round regardless of record.

Oh and I think we all agree the fine to the organization starts in the seven figures.

Could the NFL weaponized the cap? Take away $10M in cap space next year would make a difference. Though I doubt NFLPA goes for that. Maybe take away the cap space and fine them then split that money among the remaining rostered players on other teams? Or add it to the bonus the probowl players get.

Then the team gets motivated by that and goes out and wins the superbowl. haha, that would be about right.

Until the Patriots are handed the death penalty, I'm opposed to the league punishing any other team.

Take away their first pick in the draft and when FA opens up they have to wait a week before they can have any contact with FA's

I'm not surprised when you consider the Titans could possibly jeopardize the season and therefore TV revenue for the NFL. Coming hard on the Titans to preempt bigger losses down the road feels like a very NFL thing to do.

Move the organization to Mexico City should suffice.

Players get paid for each game played so it seems that making Tennessee forfeit games would affect the paychecks of players on the opposing teams. It also would have serious implications for the division standings and playoff seedings for teams that had nothing to do with this particular infraction so I have a hard time believing that Goodell and his minions would go this route.
