GAME Rose Bowl: Utah vs Ohio State 5pm ET ESPN

You don’t follow if you think the Oregon team at the Alamo bowl was a full Oregon team.

Think the Ducks would’ve been near a full roster had they played in the Rose Bowl
Neither team at the Rose Bowl was playing with a full roster. Utah started a running back at CB. Ohio State played a tight end at linebacker. Not sure about the Utes, but OSU was missing 24 players, including 8 starters.

It was an exhibition game.

Welcome to the playoff era.

Very true. Most of the bowl games have been like this. It was a fun game to watch but playoff expansion is probably needed if we want to see these kinds of games with both teams at full strength

I'm not even sure that would help if some team that's normally good ended up a 10-12 seed with little hope of advancing.

Expanding doesn’t help. Like with bcs the argument was over if 3 and 4 should’ve been 2. Now with playoff the argument is if 5 or 6 should be 4. Expand playoffs to 8 and 9-12 will argue they need to be 8.

expanding playoffs does not help solve player opt out for other bowls.

It’s possible but I think players are less likely to opt out if it’s a playoff game.

Covid also made teams even more short handed the last two bowl seasons. Hopefully that’s not something that’s happening moving forward

Expanding the playoff isn’t about ending controversy over who makes it. From a competitive standpoint, we probably don’t need more than 4.

However, players are going to continue to opt out of bowls that aren’t playoff games. The only way to change that is to have more playoff games

Didn’t Ohio State have some players out that first game of the season? If we are gonna give out awards based on first game of the season only, Virginia Tech would be in the playoff and Georgia might not. Did Oregon have full teams when they got blasted by Utah both times? You can beat that drum all you want about beating the Buckeyes the first game of the season, but what is the excuse for losing to Stanford?

Just watched the highlights. Couldn't appreciate it at the time bc of nerves and the defense causing me to throw up in my mouth a few times but damn did Stroud throw some absolute beautiful passes in that game. JSN is an absolute monster and deserves a ton of praise too but Stroud had multiple over the shoulder throws where they couldn't have been anywhere else except there for his receiver to make the catch.

I think I speak for all Buckeye fans when I say there will always be disappointment about this season bc of the loss to TTUN but that was a heck of a way to end it to springboard into next one.

Go Bucks

And don't forget about Harrison Jr. Having watched his father play at Syracuse over the years, this kid imo will be even better that dad after all said and done. This kid has already excelled as a route runner. It's scary to think what this offense will do next season. If only our defense can be just average ( hopefully better), nobody in the B1G will be able to keep up with us.

Yep. That twosome of JSN and Harrison Jr, along with Fleming (hopefully can have a full healthy offseason) and Egbuke should make for a scary passing attack again. Add in Henderson and Williams in the backfield and we are gonna be stacked

Julian Fleming looks disappointing. I followed his recruiting and thought that guy was going to be an absolute monster. He looks like a possession receiver, which is odd for his body size.

He hasnt had a full offseason yet, unfortunately due to injury and then had to deal with injury for most of the short season last year.

Hopefully he can stay healthy this offseason and gets a chance to show more of his potential

Yeah -- he was one guy i was mad OSU signed, as I thought he'd be dominate, but it will be his 3rd year and he looks like a possession WR that will win a some jump balls every now and then.

I was impressed with Harrison Jr. though and Egbuka tracking that deep ball.

Obviously our offense will be fine next year

The defense is going to take some major fixing though. Hopefully the freshmen LBers we have coming in can play at least at a ok level right away

I'm hoping that having an accomplished, experienced DC will make a difference.
