Sam’s Club is phasing out all traditional checkout and self-checkout stations nationwide, including in Corpus Christi. Shoppers to solely use Scan & Go.

They have the scan and go lanes in the Sam's store I shop at. I have never used it because I don't live in my phone all day long. But I have seen other customers using their phones to scan items while they are shopping. Like all tech, I'll get used to it when I'm forced to, but dang...I hate this move.

But I see this becoming the way of the future for shopping in stores.

I was at Omaha Sam's Club with a bar owner friend of mine last summer and he used the Scan and Go app on his phone. He swears by it.

There's nothing wrong with scan and go as long as people know about it ahead of time and can make a choice to go or not go. In a bigger city where there are plenty of options, everybody gets what they want. In a small town where there's a Sams and not much else, it's a bit of a dick move.
