Saved the World Thursday

I've got a really nice pair of Smith sunglasses that I got it 2021. Guide's Choice w/ ChromaPop glass lenses.

The paint/coloring on the arms has started to chip off and I submitted for warranty, which they've approved and will send me a voucher for a new pair, but first I have to scratch X's in each lens and send them a picture.

Kind of frustrated. It's awesome that they're going to give me a free pair of $275 sunglasses because the color is coming off a bit, but honestly, I was hoping to keep them as "beaters."

I don't understand why I have to destroy my glasses for them to complete the warranty.

I had to do that with a pair of Chaco flip flops once when one of the straps came out of the foot bed. Had to cut the other and send a pic. A little different.

While I still don't understand the need for you to cut the other flip flop, there is a difference in the two situations in that while my sunglasses aren't perfect and do qualify for warranty replacement, they're usable. You're not going to wear one flip-flop.

Full disclosure, I'm probably more perturbed by the policy because I planned on getting a different color and was going to have one beater color and one new.

I think it might be so you don't use your fucked up glasses to get more free pairs...making the warranty a 1 and done sort of thing

Yep. That makes sense. Hadn't considered that. I was too caught up in being disappointed that I couldn't have blue and green lenses.

I too have Smiths...but I think I bought them off eBay, so no warranty for them. I love me some Smith shades.

but I have moved on to Goodrs. Cheap and do what I need them to do

I don't have a pair of Goodrs myself, but my son and some friends have them and I'm impressed, particularly given the price.

I'm really good about keeping sunglasses in good shape and not losing them. <knocks on wood>

I've got those Guide's Choice for sport activities, and a pair each of Ray Ban aviators and Wayfarers. Maybe I'll pick up some Goodr for everyday shit. They're like $20 or so, right?

Not that it's pertinent to your question, but while I have a pair of $275 sunglasses, I did not pay that.

That said, they each have a purpose. The expensive ones are for sports because of their coverage and durability. The others mostly for the different styles.

I am not a spider.

Makes sense to me, though. For example, most of my lenses are mirrored so I can look at your wife's ass without you or my wife knowing, but today I'm going to a funeral, and want something a little more subdued. New Wayfarers. Boom. Stylie.
