1st, 2nd, or 3rd down.
Other team has ball in striking range.
They throw a pass into the end zone.

There’s no incentive for the DB to not just tackle the receiver instead of playing him straight up and giving him a chance to score a TD.
In fact, if you’re in one on one coverage and the receiver is at all getting open, you as a DB should just hold the shit out of him.
 
It’s sort of like why not go offsides every time on down and goal on the 1. They can’t get any closer and maybe the ref misses the offside and you get a huge head start
