A. Game 7 of World Series. Your pitcher has a no-hitter through 8 innings. Pitch count is at 96. Opponents 2,3,4 batters are up next. You have a good closer. You have a 1-0 lead. Do you leave your starter in or yank him?
B. What if the pitch count is 112?
C. What if he's given up 4 hits all since the 5th inning?

I think so. If I have confidence in my closer, the starter in this situation is on a very short leash.
Plus he likely has to change his pitching motion with someone on base. He got through the first 24 batters in the wind-up. Now he’s going to have to pitch from the stretch.

OP just said good closer, not elite. I’m not pulling the starter for say Sean Doolittle, but if the closer is Billy Wagner, I’d be more inclined to go to the closer

I take "good" to mean that you're confident that dude is going to lock it down in the 9th.

I have a scenario I find interesting and will start a thread as well...
