All this NIL stuff reminds me of the old saying about a guy that is overly full of himself? Something like’ “I’d like to buy that guy for what he’s worth and then sell him for what he thinks he’s worth.”

Beware of people who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. A lot of these honks couldn't care less about what is being lost in college sports. Of course there is something to be said for changing an outdated, unfair system but blowing it all to hell and gone is going to be something people look back on and regret. Thinking you can just go buy some championships is a bridge too far. The fractured relationships built up over decades will never be put back together again. Nor will the cohesion previously enjoyed between teammates, fan bases and their school's teams, regular students and athletes, etc.

in all seriousness though.. like how can someone determine your value.. value comes from what someone is willing to pay for your services or goods lol..

Sure… if that were truly what they were paying for. But we all know it is just to play, not for name, image and likenrss.

My personal opinion is just let it go. Let ‘em keep taking whatever they can get. Imo this new group won’t be any better at enforcement rules than the NCAA.

sir they are PAYING them for their Name (hot shot), image (look like a million bucks) and Likeness (comparing them to former studs) :)

I think the formula will take into account work the player is doing for the NIL money. If it is money from a collective it is going to be more heavily scrutinized. If it is from Bills Used Cars and the player is in commercials and doing signing events then the math gets thrown completely off because there is more value returned to the company.

They will have to put that players value in terms of a percentage of the teams success. If the "cap" is $20m then you can't have a single QB worth 50% of the schools entire "revenue". They will have to use positional value ranges as well as consider what sport it is and in what conference.

Nope. They are paying them to play football, basketball...and even softball! The rest is window dressing.

And in many cases it is HOPES that they play WELL! Betting on the come.

What pisses me off the most is the the smaller sports will get fucked and cut.

My kids are decent at swim. Will be swimming in the Texas age group championships next month on Arlington.

No damn scholarships for then anymore
