GAME Scrub Night: Ohio St vs Minnesota

I never said he wasn't.. but when you rotate backs and give your 1 guy a breather .. you could throw the other team off because they just may not have planned for that.. I realize that is a novel concept.. but it does work.

It's a great concept, except when one of your RBs is just head and shoulders better than the others. 30 carries for over 160 yards. Next guy had 10 for 30.

Does Ohio St. have more players from Texas on their roster than OU?

Definitely more than normal, lol but I can't imagine that to be true. Not gonna count though to confirm. It's early and I'm lazy

Now it's obvious to every other team in the country that Minnesota has one guy to contain.. not much threat in the receiving Corp.. at least based on last night's performance and containing. 1 rb and a decently mobile qb and Minny loses a lot.. but then again it's the B1G.. so maybe not

You're judging them by a game where they played by far and away the most talented team they'll face all season. This would be like judging Tennessee based off losing to Alabama after the first game. Ohio State already knew they only had one RB to contain. Minnesotas offensive line is really really good and huge. Ohio State's defensive line is just also really good.

It’s week one, so things might change, but that defense would be a cause for concern for me if I were an OSU fan.

But they should steamroll the conference. They’re the only B1G program that thinks speed matters, and it took back to back NCG blowouts, a tattoo scandal and Urban Meyer for them to figure that out. I don’t know what could bring the rest of the conference out of the stone age

I'm not sure that are the only one that thinks it matters but they are the only one that can consistently recruit it

Then why did Minny score 31 points? I don't disagree that it's the first game and all that.

His eyes and head were up and his feet never left the ground. Majority of contact was made with his forearms. Now I'll agree it could easily have been called targeting based on today's rule, but his was not some egregious hit.
First contact was with the crown of the helmet and forearm came after. There are 100 pictures on the internet that show the his eyes staring at the ground, eyes up isn’t debatable. This is exactly the type of tackle people are trying to take out of football

You do realize the receiver put his head down too. The game isn’t in slow motion. If the qb throws it to the inside and low he protects the receiver. These days they don’t give a fuck because they are rewarded for leaving their receiver out to get killed
Totally realize and I am the biggest critic of the rule. I think it is stupid and they should regulate the type of hit, than where the contact is made. This example could have been called speaking 20 years ago if the refs wanted to go there

I mean we were missing our top WR

OSU kinda looked like Michigan yesterday. Sloppy, poor QB play and just kind of took over the game with talent by the end.

Not far off from what I expected going in to the game. I was worried that the atmosphere + decent opponent would equal a rough game for a young QB. He did well and the athleticism gap began showing itself in the 2nd half.

Minny isn't bad at all, and with that coach I think they can develop into a program very similar to Iowa.

There is more teams with an offense than Ohio State in the B1G. Minny is going to score a lot of points this year.
Gophers will be fine on offense, defense will need to be better, but I'm not going to use tOHSU as Barometer on mns defense.

Amount big plays was concern though

A lot of teams are now excited about playing Ohio State this year.

LOL @ Ohio State

They are unable to cover man to man it appears. Lots of PI that wasn’t call last night because they are Ohio State. They will lose to someone they shouldn’t and the defense will be the reason.
