SEC Basketball

Yeah, IDK what to think. Auburn might be a tier to themselves, but UF, Tennessee and Bama are still really good as well (despite last night with Tennessee). I'd probably have it as follows:

Tier 1: Auburn
Tier 2: UF, Tennessee and Bama
Tier 3: Texas A&M, Mississippi State and UK
Tier 4: Ole Miss, OU, and UGA.
Tier 5: Vandy, Arkansas and Missouri
Auburn blew an 18 point lead last night and won a way too dramatic game in Austin by 5.

I’m sure it’s like this in any conference but home court is massive in the SEC and no one is safe in 80% of the gyms on the road.

Auburn has an advantage where we only play UT once and it’s at home (opposite of last year where that game actually decided the conference champ and may this year).

Auburn & Alabama play home and home and most likely split.

Ain’t no is going to lose fewer than 2 conference games this year.

I think it is more likely there are two clear tiers, instead of one clear team. Right now it looks like Tenn, Auburn, and maybe Bama are all able to beat each other on any given day. Second tier of KY, UF, A&M, and probably Miss St could get hot and do well. Ole Miss is bantered about, but going to need to see them beat some good teams.

Tonight we have :
Bama @ SCar
Ole Miss @ Arkansas
A&M @ OU

which might show us contenders from pretenders. I expect Bama to easily handle Scar, Arkansas to beat Ole Miss, and fingers crossed A&M makes the usual halftime adjustments and beats OU.
OU is a 3.5 point favorite tonight. Guess we will know in a few hours.

Dang good game. Not having Taylor hurt us, letting that dude triple up his career best hurt us, but we pulled it out.

We know now.

OU loses at home in a game they shot 58% from 3 and 54% from the floor with Wade Taylor out........yikes

As expected they got murdered on the glass and TAMU turned them over. The difference

Goodine or something like that was like 10-12 from 3pt. But their freshman didn't handle the pressure, missed the one-and-one to tie the game and that was all she wrote.

I went to bed when OU was up 18. Not shocked they lost. They can't beat teams with multiple big men like I said. OU has 1 big guy and he's kind of average. OU still missing 2 of their best players. This team will go as the guards go.

OU actually kept our big men silent, had 8 blocks in the paint. We are just a second half team.

That information would have been helpful before I lost 10k of my fake monies on them

A&M moves tp 11-33 all time vs OU.

Ah so same start as last year for us in the Big 12.
Exactly. Wouldn't you expect to do better in a "much easier" conference?

OU moves to 0-2 in the "much easier" conference.
Ok that was funny.

I don't mind his thinking the SEC would be easier than the B12 if you based it solely on the last 10 years. He just had the misfortune of joining the league when we were having an unbelievable and historic start to the season and happened to be the most competitive the SEC has ever been. I've been saying this was coming and several times I think we were close but screwed the poach as a conference in March but this year feels very different.

Truth is no team is safe on the road this year in the SEC so that was a huge win for aTm. I was just shocked at how many empty seats there were for a team in the top 25 playing a top 10 team. That game was so close if OU fills the arena and the crowd brings the energy it could have been the difference. This loss was on the fans.

I'm guessing the weather wasn't great up there last night, and it's basketball plus I bet the students are all tired of the SEC already. :dhd:

Bro nobody at OU cares about basketball. Even with a rich basketball tradition we get like 4000 fans. We can pack in 9000 for softball and 90K to watch OU play UTEp in football but basketball has always sucked.

fair weather fans. so sad. If OU never won I would understand it, but a matchup of top 25 teams and over half the stadium is empty? :L

We were terrible in basketball but once Bruce got us winning the students camp out over night to get tickets and our arena has been sold out for 4 years straight. To get into a basketball game (any game) you will have to pay around $150 for bad seats and $250 plus for decent. Its gotten so hard to get tickets a lot of fans are buying up road game tickets and its not unusual for 1,000 plus fans to be at away games if the locations are in driving distance.

You are in the SEC now and it just means more.

Since @Wishbone is determined to stick this stance that SEC is easier than the Big12, I'm forced to update my signature. :dhd:

Don’t think fair weather fans is the term.

They didn’t show up when the team was ranked and he said they ever show up haha

Sounds like they just suck as fans
