SECCG Bama vs UGA pregame discussion thread

Xavier Truss needs to start over Warren Erickson. Erickson has been the weakest link on the o-line and Truss has been good when he gets snaps

Eh. UGA's offense being very run oriented, a couple of cheap holding calls could easily alter the game.
Yards per play, UGA no. 3 nationally.
Vertical game? Stetson Bennett’s numbers for passes over 20 yards are better than Bryce’s. One of the top in the country.
All this with WR1-5 basically out most of the year. Many are back or getting back now. We started 2 true freshman receivers, and a RS freshman against Clemson in game 1.
Our O is vastly underrated because it isn’t flashy … it’s just really, really efficient.
Based on posts here even some of our fans don’t know that … if SBIV were 6’3” he’d be in the Heisman conversation.

I called the offense very underrated in the OP

It’s Bear Bryant’s grandson. He’s been there a while. Same class as Tua’s little brother. 4 star IIRC, but your point remains true
Until the New Mexico game, their 2 backups had career numbers of 4 for 7. Career numbers. They are now 10 for 14 all in garbage time. If Bryce gets knocked out of the game, it’s over for Bama.

I don’t disagree

And you also got in your customary dig on our QB … I read it all.
Bennett is fine, Daniels is the better of the two. I’d rather Daniels be the QB, but it is what it is. Bennett might be the better option for Bama since they do have a good pass rush and our guard play is a bit suspect

I find myself asking:
“Is Alabama THE best team that Georgia has faced this year (and I think yes) and how much better are they than UGA’s best opponent to date?”

I will not be shocked to see Bama win this game TBH. Very interesting matchup. I guess I EXPECT Georgia to win but.. not gonna be shocked at all if Bama wins.

Way to take a stand. Top notch stuff.

Bama can definitely win. They’re Bama and they have a mental edge over UGA.

But there’s been 4 common opponents:

Tennessee- Blow out win for both
Auburn- Bama needed OT against AU’s crippled backup QB, UGA had the win by halftime
Arkansas- UGA won 37-0 in dominating fashion, they gave Bama all they wanted
Florida- Bama won by two thanks to a missed extra point and failed 2 point conversion, It was over at halftime for UGA

But one could argue that Bama’s experience in winning close games is an advantage for them. They’re not gonna be blown out

Yea I thought about common opponents too but UT is prob the only one I’d trust for comparison because I don’t think anyone could trust what UF or Auburn brought to the field from week to week and Arkansas while closer as far as consistency was pretty primed for a let down when UGA played em after that A&M game and everyone was giving Arkansas the attention (deserved) early on. That A&M game was huge for Arkansas at that point.
You are correct about the mental edge and Bama has been there done that and there is an advantage with that.

Oh I’m teetery on this one, I don’t deny at all
Georgia has a helluva team this year BUT.. I’ve also witnessed them have good teams before and crap down both legs when Alabama is across the field from them.
