Should the Pats work on an extension

I’m a Cam fan. Signing him to a long term contract is a quandary. He is playing like a $30 mm QB but the risk of injury is so high that would be a hard trigger to pull.
the Pats are not using him like they have long term plans for him as of right now. If he continues to play well, I could see a franchise tag in his future (depending on cap space).
 
All I know is I like what I see so far.

3 games in, no training camp sort of, no pre-season.

This weekend will say a lot.
 
I can tell you right now with zero hesitation that Jarret Stidham isn't the answer so they can sign Cam or form a plan B.

A lot depends on the season.

That’s mean, Cam has proven he can at least lead a team to nearly a title.
