SNL:50 Episode Game Thread

Well, what did I miss?

I watched lots of the original cast back in the 70's and those great casts from the early to mid 80's. But then the show sucked for about a decade and I stopped watching. There seems to have been some better casts in the early aughts and teens, but I wasn't watching while they happened, I've just found a lot of it on youtube.

I missed a lot of tv while my kids were growing up.

I havent watched SNL or found it remotely funny since maybe 1999 or around that time. The 50 show was fun and entertaining for nostalgia reasons, but also a reality check seeing all these people who were once young so old.

Good gawd, you fucking idiot.

He was referring to actors, actresses, and writers that were already under contract (pre-1999) and didn't have contractual restrictions from going outside SNL, Paramount, NBC. He couldn't block them.

New actors, actresses, and writers were limited to in-house Paramount Pictures movies or NBC. Was he blocking them from movies? No, but they had to be Paramount Movies for $75,000 pay. Not the $Millions they'd be getting from an industry competitor.
He wasn't lying that he wouldn't block them. He was weasel wording.

You didn't list shit. Your big fucking star was Seth Meyers who fucking told you himself he was a low quality actor. LOL

The new contract killed the actor, actress, and writer quality at SNL. Seth Meyers is literally dragging his balls across your face.

The lack of big time Hollywood movie stars and their shitty ratings following the new contracts in 1999 prove it.
Of course he was talking about the new contracts. Don't be daft.

Translation: The quality of SNL actors, actresses, and writers turned to shit after the 1999 contracts.
SNL ratings have cratered since the 1999 contracts.

Of course he was talking about the new contracts. Don't be daft.

No he wasn't, you flaming idiot. You know how anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows? By his own fucking words.

"We’ve been very, as they say in Hollywood, talent-friendly. So the idea that the whole culture of the place is changing is just idiotic,” he said. When John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd wanted to leave with a year left on their contracts, they did.” - Lorne Michaels

Do you know what "been" means? It means in the past. They'd 'been' talent friendly IN THE PAST.
i.e. Before the new contracts.

He even uses Belushi and Aykroyd as examples.
Belushi died in 1982. He obviously wasn't under the 1999 contract.

Aykroyd left SNL in 1979. He obviously wasn't part of the 1999 contract.
Aykroyd didn't even bother to show up for the 50th reunion for that matter.

Late 80's-early 90's was my favorite era

this right here. the true "golden era" of SNL was from 1987-1993. Never been as funny as it was during that time.

Top 20 most successful SNL cast members of ALL TIME.

Not a one of them was a new hire in 1999 or after. Not even fucking one?
Seth Meyers who fell under the new contract isn't even on the list. He told you in his own words he was a low quality actor. LOL

Note John Belushi and Chris Farley are not on the list because THEY'RE DEAD.

Which ones, you flaming idiot?

The article was written in 1999. The new contract for actors, actresses, and writers didn't go into effect until 1999.

He was obviously referring to pre-1999 contracts because he had no post 1999 data to use as example.
He was lying and using weasel words because (as proven) idiots like you don't know any better.

i.e. “When Mike Myers wanted to take a half-season off because he was going through something personal, he did."

Mike Meyers was on SNL from 1989 to 1995. He was not a new hire in 1999.

You claim he was lying but theres no shortage of new snl cast members doing movies after 1999, proving he wasnt

Give some examples, cunt.
Not just minor roles/movie extras either.

There hasn't been a famous movie star come out of SNL who were a new hire under that 1999 contract. That's because the quality of actors, actresses, and writers turned to shit after the contract.

New SNL hires in 1999 were contractually obligated to take Paramount Pictures movies for ($75,000 pay) or NBC sitcoms, of which their acting/writing careers could be owned for 12 years.
Paramount and NBC owned SNL. They owned any actors, actresses, and writers that were under that contract.

You've been told that multiple times. I've cut and pasted those facts from the article. You keep doubling/tripling down on the stupid.

The ratings alone tell us the quality of SNL actors, actresses, and writers went to shit after the 1999 new hire contracts.

"bUt sEtH MeYeRs"

Seth Meyers told us he couldn't find movie work after SNL because he had low quality acting skills.

Why would minor roles not count? According to you, nbc blocked those.

NBC chose not to enforce that clause of the contract. It's pretty simple.

Notice mjf didn't give any examples of Lorne Michaels 'other' comments? He/She/They/Them/Meow, was clearly asked to give examples of 'other' comments.

Because none of those 'other' comments support mjf's point that SNL actors, actresses, and writers are quality Hollywood acting/writing talent. It's why they had to take the SNL gig.

mjf is a mental gymnastics leftard who resorts to going in circles while getting their teeth kicked in.

Because minor roles (i.e. being extras) are for actors/actresses who have little (if any) quality acting talent.

NBC could block them from doing a non Paramount Pictures movies by assigning them to a sitcom. They could lock them up for 12 years.

We've been through this. It was in their contracts. The article told us that.

"Mr. Michaels said he feels this is a lot of hullabaloo over nothing. First of all, he said, he’s never been a stickler for contracts when one of his stars has wanted to pursue something else. “We’ve been very, as they say in Hollywood, talent-friendly. So the idea that the whole culture of the place is changing is just idiotic,” he said."

I already posted several examples of new SNL cast members who acted.

Your idiotic retort appears to be "BUT BUT BUT THEY WERENT MAJOR ROLES!"
