Snowy Tuesday on the East Coast

In my morning romp around the cemetery I noticed one of the workers had put a propane tank and cover over a new plot. Sounded like they were heating the ground for dig out later.
They did that with our screened in porch, but I think the area is too big to do that with the pole barn. The porch was only like 8 holes with cement being poured. We got the trees cleared before the ground froze, but the builder said the building can’t start until the ground thaws.

Hey pal. Fuck off

More than we spent for our house. Finally paid mine off about 2 years ago. Still have about $130k left on Mr. Kobe’s.

Jesus. My one neighbors is something in that ballpark. She's a child psychologist

There's man caves and then there's Man Caves.

Pandemic has been good to us in the student loan arena. No interest for almost a year now and have made every monthly payment and will have made two huge principal payments before interest starts back up. I bet the pandemic rules will have saved us $30-40,000 over the rest of the life of his student loans.

Wow, that ain't nothing.

Aren't they also in forbearance now, if needed?

Mine were about $150k after college/law school. Mr. Kobe’s were over $200k.

Insane.

They talk about house poor but school loan poor is a thing now

Not for you of course...mrs charge by the 15 minute interval

This man cave will include space to have the kid’s sports stuff out there, so it’s less a man cave than it is space to get hockey nets, basketball hoop, and pitching areas/batting nets out of my house and garage.

Jesus. You'd think he could have gotten his doctorate for that much scratch.

I believe all federal student loans automatically went into forbearance in March or April. When we realized it, we called and made sure our monthly payment still came out and then talked to our financial planner. He recommended paying off as much as possible while there isn’t any interest because other than our mortgage, that’s our biggest debt. And we don’t qualify for the interest deduction in it. So we’ve been throwing money at it as much as possible. When interest starts again we’ll be chipping away at more principal than interest.

Let me clarify. It also will have a good-sized woodworking area for Mr. Kobe. He isn’t getting screwed out of a space for himself.

I actually got screwed the first few months. I should have checked on it, but I thought my autopay would still keep going. But nope. A few months until I realized they automatically put a hold on it. I just went back and paid what I usually would be for that time frame. If I could, I'd be putting down more, but gotta save up for a house eventually.

Mr. Kobe got himself a small blow torch for a project he’s working on. He’s having way too much fun with it. Including torching the ice off the driveway.

Yeah, I think we had one payment that was missed because of the automatic forbearance. We pay about $1100 per month on the loans though, so getting $1100 knocked off each month instead of like $500 of principal is huge.

So basically he wittles

A chair and a knife then?

Thats where the federal loans are problematic to me. So basically the industry requires you have a degree. Therefore there is unlimited demand for said degree. Then we finance to young people that couldn't qualify for such an expensive loan.

Then we make said loan unforgivable. And then throw in interest.

It's the interest part I take issue with.

Fuck. He has our entire garage used up by various saw tables. Last night he said he thinks he wants a planer. Whatever the fuck that is. As long as I get my garage space back for my car and free of saws and hockey nets, I’ll be happy.
