So Are The Lions The New Browns?

They should fold the team, move assets to a new city and start the record book from scratch.

Almost like what the Army did the 7th Calvary Regiment after Custard got it wiped out.

I don't think the Lions need to move or rebrand. They've got a good fanbase, city, stadium, logo, branding, etc.; they just need good ownership and management. The Lions turn it around after the Fords sell the franchise.
This is true. Ownership is about 99% of the reason the Lions remains as crappy as... well, the Lions. But the decisions that the team has made, from top to bottom, are awful. I'm not sure this can be salvaged. Plus, the impending demise of Dan Snyder aside, there is no mechanism to remove a NFL franchise's owner, simply because of sustained poor performance and lack of competitiveness.

Are the Fords selling?

I doubt it. And we'll keep seeing subpar seasons out of that team until something significant changes at the top.
The Ford family has come to expect lackluster play from their team.

Ownership is why the Lions suck. The Ford family are suckers for snake oil salesman (Millen, Mayhew, Quin) who struggle to evaluate talent. Bob Quin and Matt Patricia were probably the worst GM/Head coach combo in NFL history and ran good players off.

LOL. Matt Millen. The guy is the prototypical awful team exec that an armchair GM truly could be better than.

"Duh, I'll draft three straight WRs with first round picks. Maybe the team will give me an extension? Yup."

Elliot Wolf interviewed for the GM position but was not hired. Mistakes like this are commonplace in Detroit.

What the hell happened to the Bowns? I had great looking merch made up and everything :noidea:

I'll be honest, I think the Lions are only a few players away from being a solid team. They've given the Ravens, Vikings and Rams all that they could handle. Outside of Hockenson and Swift, Detroit's other pass catchers would be on other teams practice squads. If they can draft or sign a couple of quality receivers and a few pass rushers in the offseason, they could easily flip the switch.

Thanks for the laughs. Now back to reality...

They can ditch Goff after next year. They've got 2 1st rounders in 2022 and most likely will have 2 1st rounders in 2023 as well. Sure they are the Lions and no one wants to put much stock into them, but I truly feel like it wouldnt take much to make them a .500 team easily.

Maybe they can take a WR in the first round for 5 years straight...
