NIL and the transfer portal weren't enough. I promise you the Feds are going to get involved with "straightening out college football" eventually. The Feds. It's inevitable when the cat's been let out of the bag.

NCPA files civil rights complaint vs. Div. I schools

has anyone informed them that black players are getting NIL too? Probably more NIL money than white players are. And there isn't an NIL cap for players or schools, yet, is there?

This feels more like a "hey look at us, we exist" story.

this is what the NCAA wants.. it wants the government to make the rules when it comes to NIL.. since they are cowards and don't want to piss off the P5 conferences who could take away their precious bball tournament every March.

This.

And no, it's not enough. The NCAA should have figured this shit out over a decade ago, but refused until it had to be legislated in the first place, now they have no idea what to do about it.

"This is the 50th anniversary of Title IX but the sexual abuse and harassment of college athletes on campus is rampant, and there are still 100,000 fewer female college athletes than male college athletes."

Rampant? Is this supposed to be that silly-as-fuck '1/4 college students are raped' nonsense that was already debunked?

There are more male athletes than female athletes.... Well no fucking shit.

They knew what to do about it, just don't want to. Too much money to be made to not go kicking and screaming. NCAA is super screwed if somehow one of these spring leagues ever actually takes hold.

I don't see this one going anywhere. But, I never thought we'd have NIL, the transfer portal or a queer guy winning the NCAA Women's swimming either. So, what the fuck do I know.

what does the transfer portal have to do with anything
Both were an attempt to improve an athlete's college experience.

Maybe, but I don't trust the government. Nobody in their right mind does. I'd rather bolt and form a whole new organization completely away from the NCAA than let Senator Snort or Representative Foghorn start passing laws that directly control my favorite sport.

This x 1000

The US government can’t get out of its own way, they wouldn’t be an upgrade over the NCAA.

I’m all for minor league football to start and help clean up the mess that is college football.

How do you think minor league football would work?

1. Would CFB be left with just the scrubs and the rare players who actually value an education (example: a pre-med student or a wannabe scientist/lawyer/accountant, etc.)?

2. If the top players chose the minor league, what would attendance and TV viewership of CFP games be in your opinion?

3. Would minor league football destroy or enhance the game day experience, bowl games, the Playoff, etc.?

Are you thinking CFB would be the minor league teams? Or would the minor league teams be like MLB and NBA, i.e. Savannah Bananas, Amarillo Sod Poodles, etc?

If the latter, I can't see those minor league teams being able to pay as much as the colleges will with their NIL.

footbaw.. i like footbaw

Look at college baseball to see how it would work.

Hilarious.

This is a lawsuit for pine riders and other non star athletes who can't generate NIL money because nobody wants to sponsor and pay someone who is a back up so they're demanding the schools pay them a fair share of the millions.

This was bound to happen when blue chips started getting 6 and 7 figure deals.

I'll continue to say ban all athletic scholarships. Make them get student loans.

Just wait until all the players in the minor sports jump on this. The gymnastics teams, the tennis teams.......even the band members too because they will eventually all want a piece of the pie. And when it's all deemed "not fair" enough, here will come the lawsuits and politicians to fix everything. That's when I'll check out. I've always liked being a donor but I'm not gonna get milked.
