If you think UT is going to control or ruin the SEC, you are crazy. We have numerous schools with as much or more influence than UT will. We were the top conference before they come in, and we will when they get here, and we will if they decide to leave. I am glad to have OU and TX coming in, but would have been equally fine if they hadn't. It seems the problem is that Texas always was the big kid on the block ... not in the SEC. Hell, lowly Vandy will have as much influence as they will have. No one will kowtow to what they want.Three things to know about tejas.
1) Nobody underachieves like tejas. NOBODY!!
2) tejas will play every dirty trick in the book to bring their fellow conference members down to their level.
3. In negotiations, tejas always has two fingers crossed behind their back.

Absolutely No!
Thats money out of my pocket. I don’t give a crap when they join or if they do and I’m certainly not bankrolling it.
They are ditching a failed conference and we are being kind enough to take them in. They are lucky we aren’t charging an entrance fee.
So, what happens when the PAC comes and takes 4 Big 12 teams
Damn.. I'm sorry we chased you to the BIG WestThree things to know about tejas.

LOL that's a lot of words to say.. Yes, Texas is gonna run this conference and chase us to the BIG West tooIf you think UT is going to control or ruin the SEC, you are crazy. Pac wanting any schools currently in the big 12??..So, what happens when the PAC comes and takes 4 Big 12 teams
Who would they want? So, what happens when the PAC comes and takes 4 Big 12 teams
I thought I read OSU, Tech, Kansas, and I can't rememberWho would they want?

1. Nothing is dragging out but on schedule for 2025 it’s not like this is an acquisition and we still are negotiating price.I can totally understand and Texas dug its own grave here but it is just odd having these "future" members still playing in another league. I am not sure how long this can drag out. Sure, they will surrender a lot of money at the start but we will make it back very quickly with the bump in new TV contract by adding them.
Also, I doubt it is out of your pocket personally.
Also, the money would come out of general SEC fund and likely not from the schools themselves. The amount seems daunting but we bring in a ton in football. Tennessee can make over $ 150 million in one home game at Neyland.
1. Nothing is dragging out but on schedule for 2025 it’s not like this is an acquisition and we still are negotiating price.
2. We won’t make anymore money when they enter as our contracts are written to where we get an equal increase per team that is added. For example Tenn will make the same money no matter if these teams join or not. There is potential long term value but it won’t be worth buying those two out.
3. If the SEC pays out the money then that is earned revenue that neither new school assisted in producing and that can’t be distributed so it definitely money out of Auburn’s pocket. The SEC does not have magical money not tied to the schools. In fact the SEC borrowed money to pay schools an additional emergency distribution during COVID leveraging the new contract so we would most likely have to borrow to buyout UT and OU.
I get things just pop in your head but your thoughts are not reality so a better plan would be to ask “why don’t we….” and let us assist you in the answer.
I think it’s a mixed bag in that the main SEC deal that is replacing CBS is a guaranteed amount per team and increased by said amount if they add schools.I agree with your point that the SEC is not going to pay the TX/OU buyouts for 2023/2024.
At current GOR rate that's $110 million per school = $220 million
If everybody shares the pain, that's a $15 million per SEC school sacrifice and not gonna happen.
However, I question your #2 point.
The media rights payout is based on viewership. The more eyeballs watching ESPN, ESPN2, etc, the more they can charge advertisers.
Adding TX/OU will increase viewership and therefore increase the SEC's per school payout, no?

Now the SEC Network deal has a guaranteed amount then they profit share so yes income could be greater.
That’s a grossly over simplified explanation.
I am not really sure what it means to say "they have the money." It's a math equation and people with all the facts have run the math. Evidently, the math doesn't work until 2025. If the math worked where the SEC schools made more by paying for UT and OU to come to the SEC earlier, they would do it. I mean this is big assed business ... it's easy ... if the money makes sense it gets done. If it doesn't make sense, it doesn't get done.I disagree with your comment about the SEC NOT having money. It is a Corporate Entity with Employees, a HQ, etc. They have money.
Do the Schools have more? Yes. However, Conferences have plenty of money as well.
Also we are talking apples and oranges. I agree that the schools would likely have to chip-in to get OU and Texas out of this mess. I just think it is stupid to have schools linger in a league for 4 years (2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024) after they announced they were leaving. It is unprecedented in College Sports. It isn't good for the student athletes at both institutions, the coaches, etc.
I do think that OU, Texas, and the SEC did NOT want to have the move leaked last year and scrambled to react once it was leaked.

If it's a close call on the money, the CFP expansion not happening until 2026 really kiboshed them getting in early. Had we gone to 12 teams, perhaps the math works out. Without CFP expansion it appears not to.
No, it's simple math. You may have said that in your post, but then you threw out a whole bunch of word salad about other things. At the end of the day, it's a math equation. QED.I get that and stated that in the original post. I am just saying reputation has to be considered.
Nearly every big boss invests money in Environmental, Corporate Social Responsibility, Charities, etc. even though it does not generate any money. Why do they do that? Good will and Reputation.
As stated, it is embarrassing and unprecedented in CFB for us to have teams sitting in another league for over 4 seasons after they got their invite.
It’s not embarrassing. It’s your rightful place to sit with your hat in hand and wait. Y’all only have one team that has TX and OU’s stature in cfb history, and that one team barely has earned it in the last decade. Sit down on the hallway bench and know your role.As stated, it is embarrassing and unprecedented in CFB for us to have teams sitting in another league for over 4 seasons after they got their invite.
