So what is the latest news on the OU and Texas to SEC situation?

I have a hunch OU will be sitting down at the SEC conference table and saying "OK, boys, how do we normally do that?" and Texas will be inclined to sit down at the SEC conference table and say "Listen up, we've got few things we'd like to talk about". I could be wrong but I won't be surprised if the animosity toward Oklahoma will be pretty minimal and if there is any friction it will be between the Old Guard and Texas. I'm not saying there won't be rivalries developed with Oklahoma but I think Joe Castiglione is the kind of guy who can smile and go along to get along while still protecting OU's interests. I'll have to see it to believe it with Texas.
Just go read the Bama and Georgia rivals boards. They can't stand the arrogance of texas and say they are in for a rude awakening.

I agree with OU, and Texas is going to get a rude awakening if they think they are going to come in with their dicks swinging. And I think they know that. The SEC is the big boy conference for a reason. They and the B1G won't be dictated to. I get the whole "everything is bigger in Texas" schtick. But the SEC is the top conference for a reason. They won't get pushed around by Texas because they can't go anywhere else, or on their own, and make the money they can in the SEC.

I don't think Texas will be loud and frustrating in the SEC meetings but I saw a video talking about how they could be doing some funny stuff in the background. The video caster was really alluding to both Texas and Texas A&M duking it out. Both could do things like constantly inundate the SEC office with accusations of recruiting violations from the other school, etc.

I could see that crap being pulled.

lol recruiting is recruiting.. but i wonder how long it takes for the real money of the conference to have the CCG rotate between Atlanta, Houston/Dallas..

You let the big bad wolf in @WhosYourDawggy

It's funny that you would say a rotation between Atlanta and Houston/Dallas ... that's what a Texas fan would say because you all think it is all about Texas. But an SEC fan understands the lay of the land and realizes that if they go to a rotation - I hope they do - it will be Atlanta, NOLA, Nashville (they are building a new indoor stadium by 2026), and Dallas. Atlanta works for UGA and Bama, but Nashville is a great location, NOLA is NOLA (it's the least likely IMO because the stadium is a dump), and Jerry has a lot of SEC in him being a hog and all.

That gives you a N, S, E and W location. FWIW, the basketball tournament is going to be in Nashville for the next decade.

Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are two decent football pickups. They would be mid-pack to upper echelon in the Pac12. With the exception of West Virginia, they are probably the two best football programs left behind in Big12.
Tech mid yes upper no.

OK state i could buy more into being mid to upper.

No way does Jerry World get left out. Dallas is as big as Atlanta. And an easy drive for OU, Arkansas, Texas, A&M, and to some extent LSU.

plus Jerry pays more than those other cities including Atlanta.. i don't really care too much about the Basketball tournament location, Nashville beat KC, so that's an upgrade.

Yeah, Texas Tech really hasn't been that strong of a program. They don't really have bad years either though. They seem to perennially go from 5-7 to 9-3 at best every year. I haven't seen them put together an 11-2 type run since the Mike Leach era and they are rarely just trash either. I do think Texas Tech has a decent fanbase that loves football and can carry some of that West Texas market. That would make them somewhat attractive for Pac12.

Kansas State might be another interesting add with Kansas because Kansas State has been competitive in modern history.

I'd be disappointed in both of them if they didn't. Come to think of it, piss on both of them anyway.

Tech's fan base is mostly in the DFW Metroplex.

I didn’t say they would. I said it will be more than just Atlanta and Dallas.

Tech was building a program under the pirate,
but his ego was growin,
and he didn't bow to f'n AD gerald meyers -
3 years of tubby who promised defense,
but no improvement there,
and our days of wanderin the desert started -
gave kliffy all the chance in the world,
but he wouldn't recruit,
(prob why he does well in the big league
and had a "just have fun" philosophy -
i can recall twice we had two 15yd penalties
on the same play -

i've got my scarlet-colored glasses on
with our new coach McGuire -

Guns Up!!

McGuire's recruiting is already light years ahead of Coach GQ.

So, what happens when the PAC comes and takes 4 Big 12 teams
They make even less per school :noidea:

If the remaining schools would make ____ conference more money by being there then they’d already be there or at least on their way there like OU and Texas are.

The Big12 schools are just not worth it, not in the eyes of the network’s ect. They are the new G5 conference, just like the AAC the minute OU and Texas are no longer on their schedules yearly.

PAC wouldn’t benefit by picking any of them up.

The PAC may be on its way to the same status if/when USC shows their leg to the BIG and gets out.
