I was turned onto him by my grandmother many years ago. One of his characters in "Twilight if Empire" is an ancestor of mine.

Not sure how I failed to respond to this. I found a first-edition Ballantine copy of The Frontiersman in a used book store years ago and that set in motion my Dad and I devouring everything Eckert ever wrote.
