Species De-extinction: Dire Wolf

I wonder what happened to those fuckers. Biggest badasses of the ice age and science is pretty certain humans weren’t responsible for their extinction
There had to have been some sort of virus or disease that came along with the melting of the ice sheets.

Cuz there’s no way all those species died out because of humans. We still haven’t even killed all the Tigers and Lions now with guns on hand.

Fuck that shit. Bring back great auks, passenger pigeons, and Carolina parakeets.

I've been thinking about this one for a while and at first I was like this is really cool then I read about the company that did it and their goal is to reintroduce extinct animals into the wild, supposedly to improve ecosystems. My thought was we would see these things in zoos but if they are going to release these bastards then screw that.

Who the hell wants to run into a giant wolf?

Hard pass.

Not sure if it has been pointed out yet, but they absolutely did not bring back dire wolves from extinction. They messed with some genes in normal wolves to make them look more like dire wolves.

Dire wolves are not even wolves technically speaking.

Doesn’t matter no one needs oversized wolves roaming around.

Foundation grants, government grants, venture capital, etc.
The first two can rarely do much for very long. And venture capitalists eventually want to see ROI or they stop funding longshot tech.

Eventually, there's going to be very little new investment in this space, if there's not some ancillary technology that can turned into a profitable business. Sure, we can get proof-of-concept program and get some pseudo-dire wolves or pseudo-dodo birds reintroduced with some kind of success. But consider what kind of investment would be necessary to resurrect the mammoth, build up a viable population of ~300 or so and then release and track them into the wild. Call it the downside of capitalism, I suppose; human beings rarely do things for very long, if there's not at least something in it for them.

since we are bringing back extinct animals, perhaps this is a call for Welfare Bear?
They died out from lack of getting ice cream from the ice cream truck.

Can we bring back some of the giant sharks? Put a go pro on one and let the games begin!!

Literally my worst nightmare would be if Velociraptors existed.

You want to bring back DoDos, Mammoths or brontosaurus go for it. The earth does not need supersized apex predators.

I dunno. Dropping a couple of apex fuckers in a few strategic spots around the globe might fix some of the world's ills.

Motherfuckers would breed. Too risky.

And I also heard it could make for good jerkey... so plus plus IMO

They named the pups Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi — because they couldn’t resist.
