Spencer Rattler rated as the #3 QB returning next season

this is probably one of the worst takes, Stroud throws dimes
I watched every game of OSU's. He is great when he has all the time in the world. If you get any pressure on him -- he struggles. He is like a carbon copy of Dwayne Haskins. Great in OSU's offense, but I'd bet a lot of money -- he is as successful at the next level as Dwayne Haskins

Ok. I'll take CJ Stroud as my QB along with everyone one else in the country and you can have Rattler.
Newsflash -- You can put just about anyone under OSU's center and they will put up video game numbers. There is a reason all those QB's you'd take over everyone else at OSU have become massive flops in the NFL.

Quick question -- Name the most successful QB from Ohio State in NFL history? I will give you a hint -- he likes to gamble. Now give me the list of Ohio State QB's who have flopped in the NFL, but were stars at OSU.

Your take is that a freshman QB struggles under pressure. Good call there, genius

Until Haskins there hasn't been a single QB in my lifetime that I would say was an NFL QB. So you are talking about two QBs. Only one who came close would have been Hoying.

He is only a freshman because he redshirted. Next year will be his 3rd year at OSU. You are talking like he walked into OSU's starting role out of high school.

A redshirt during the Covid season. Not exactly your typical learning experience

You can cherry pick however you'd like. Simple truth is -- the best QB out of OSU is Art Schlister or Mike Tomzack. Think about that for second and let that sink in.

What OSU QB's do in college is accomplished because their skill position talent is LIGHT YEARS better than any CB's they face and their talent, as a whole, is light years better than the majority of teams they face.

It is why Troy Smith flopped.
It is why Braxton Miller and Terrell Pryor were forced to change positions
It is why Dwayne Haskins flopped
It is why JT Barrett flopped

The list goes on and on. Once they get into the NFL and they have to make throws into tight windows, instead of to wide open receivers -- they fail. Once they are facing pressure throughout every game -- they struggle. But they will put up huge numbers at OSU.

Here is the quote they give you if you ask who the best QB Ohio State has put into the NFL is:

  • Mike Tomczak has the honor of being the best NFL quarterback that Ohio State has ever produced. Cool thing to say, but a very low bar. However, Tomczak definitely deserves his fair share of credit.

What the hell are you talking about the NFL for anyway? This list is literally about returning college QBs. You have the dumbest arguments on this board

We are talking about college QB's. I simply stated what makes Stroud really good is playing with the skill position talent on OSU in their offense.
You made it sound like them rating a guy who is more mobile, has a stronger arm and can make all the throws he will need at the next level was outlandish and Stroud should have been ranked higher than Rattler.

You put Rattler in OSU's offense with that OL and those WR's and he'd be preparing to be drafted in the top 10 of the NFL draft in 2022, instead of the transfer portal and SC.

Yeah, those guys he had Oklahoma were complete chumps. Gimme a break dude. This argument sucks, even for you. Ranking Rattler ahead of Stroud after their previous seasons is outlandish.

I'll make an avy bet with you right now that Stroud has an even better season next without Olave and Wilson

You mean with the #1 WR in 2021 and 5 star recruit Ogbuka and the #1 WR and 5 star recruit Julian Fleming both ranked in the top 10 nationally regardless of position, to go along with Marvin Harrison Jr.

Like I said -- OSU had not one, not two, but three 1st round NFL draft picks at WR this past year and they are returning their best WR in Ngjiba-Smith, who, oh yeah, is another 5 star WR.

No school in the country has the WR talent that OSU has and it isn't even remotely close right now.

lol Rattler proved to be a bit mentally challenged when deciding where to throw the ball this past season. He had open WRs and the guy failed to see it

Well TBF, JSN is better than those two, and I would go out on a limb and say Harrison Jr will be better this season than Olave was in '21.

I think Stroud is a legit top QB right now. Yeah his receiver class was insanely good, but he was also the most accurate deep ball passer in college per PFF. I wouldn't call him a dink and dunk passer by any means. I thought he played very well against Michigan considering how much pressure they were able to get on him, though his receivers also made some insane catches. Still surprised Michigan's secondary was able to hang that game.

I don't think Stroud will see much of a dropoff in 2022... if at all. That receiver group is still pretty stacked and JSN is a legitimate Heisman candidate, not to mention a stud RB in Henderson.

yeah Day offense is not a dink and dunk.. they love to attack downfield. As a steelers fan, I would rather them draft OL in the first 3 rounds, tank next season with Haskins or Rudolph because they suck anyways.. and aim to get CJ.

Urban's passing game was more dink and dunk than Day's... look no further than the 2018 Michigan game when we couldn't handle their crossing routes.

The backup WR's for OSU this past year would be the starting WR group for the overwhelming majority of top 25 teams this past year. That is how stacked they are at WR.

That doesn't even include Jameson Williams, who left, because he couldn't get on the field much. All he did was go to Bama and absolutely dominate.

The backups this past year for OSU were:

Egbuka -- #10 player in the nation regardless of position. #1 WR in 2021.
Julian Fleming -- #5 player in the nation regardless of position. #1 WR in 2020.
Then Marvin Harrison Jr. as their #6 WR :pound:

You could put a traffic cone at QB at OSU and he'd throw 40 tds and 4000 yards in that offense. It is why I said -- they had a national championship offense and a brutal defense this past year.

yeah it's the WRs that make him look good..
