Stand Up Comedy

Well to be honest, the only pushback I typically get from my list is from having Titus on it, but it happens pretty much every time lol.

If we went off of one show alone, Titus would be my number one. I can just relate to a lot of his material.... minus an actually crazy mom.
Let me guess “what’s wrong with you have that liberal hack in your list?”?

Actually no lol. It almost never stems from anything political. They just don't find him as funny as I do.

Of course I am in a similar boat with Louis CK. A lot of people like him and I just can't get into him. I have watched a few of his and I just don't think he is funny.

Chris Porter wasn't too bad live. I knew it wasn't his best material, but he is a pretty cool guy.

Interesting. That’s what I’ve gotten from people in the past when discussing Titus. Some flat out call out their dislike on a political basis, some don’t. But even the ones that don’t I have to wonder. Maybe I’m just wrong and have trouble finding any other reason someone wouldn’t like Titus.

Being a comedian and being political is such a dicey thing these days. Even Burr (who’s pod I listen to) takes a more balanced, almost apologetic take when he gets into most political things these days. They just can’t be funny, political and widely popular anymore.

Louis CK....loved him at first, though I recognized that a big part of his appeal is the concept of “funny and wrong” humor (his “of course, but maybe” skit as example). That humor just doesn’t work long term for me.

Never heard of this guy, but I see some potential.

Patrice Oneil was pretty good. Greg giraldo too. Never really big names, but fucking hysterical.

this should be pretty good.

the fact it's a doc, it's probably going to be bitter sweet. patrice left a larger body of standup to stay on topic, but both made their bones on panel, specifically tough crowd. from there patrice was big on o & a, greg did his things on the roasts (artie lang has a good story about going to a roast with Greg on his flight).

but even on dumb shit, patrice was hilarious

patrice was able to work the crowd, while knowing what his set was. i still remember he felt half the audience should be laughing and half should be terrified. i disagree with that, as i'd wish more had a sense of humor, but it is what it is.

david cross was nice

chappelle is obviously a legend

that's 90s shit (alright the chappelle one said 2004, either way, thinking of another SF set then). i assume everyone is at least up to date with burr's catalog on netflix, tom segura, etc...

I don’t think this guy is the best. But this is one of the best comedy bits I have heard in a while. He does go a little too much into white privilege. But it’s still great.

Rare goodcomedy songs.
Very hard to find good comedy music. I generally hate them all. But these 2 make me crack up.

And the girl was ralphie May’s wife. Not sure how she didn’t get smushed.
