TV Series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Here is the actress who played (supposedly) young Reva.

Appropriate it feels like the prequels again. There's some cool concepts:
-Reva's story could be used as a layered B plot if she really was at the Jedi Temple and is obsessed because she feels betrayed
-Ewan is doing his usual thing with Obi-Wan, this time with his completely confused and fractured mental state
-Leia does actually feel like a young Leia/kid of Anakin and Padme
-And of course the Vader/Kenobi dynamic

It just feels so let down by the writing and directing.

I don't dislike it necessarily just doesn't feel like it's hitting it's potential.

Not letting Dave Filoni have control over this project was a mistake.

Yep. I'm not a show hater, and by-and-large I'm still enjoying it despite the clear disappointment from the writing and directing. But that scene was just.....no.

He isn't in charge of this?

Honestly that explains alot. So far this has been season 8 of GOT for me. I'll enjoy the ride but I have serious questions and concerns about it. The Star Wars universe had been up and down on retconning things (Rogue One solved a questionable plot hole in A New Hope but Clone Wars, Rebels, and Solo provided an excellent backstory for the 2nd biggest villain in the saga but oh yeah he had an on screen death when he got chopped in half) but this is alot.

This one on its own had been fun to watch. But with the Obi Leya backstory her being like I kinda know that guy because he was friends with my dad in A New Hope doesn't make sense now. Luke knew the guy as a weird hermit when he was a kid and for a few days he was a mentor but he literally saved Leyas life. It's going to be hard to retcon that. Plus the Grand Inquisitor got offed and he was the season 1 villain in Rebels so the story now is impacting that as cannon. Considering that the Asoka series brings back everyone from that show its going to be hard to rectify that. I'm guessing the Grand Inquisitor pulls a Maul and is only slightly dead but they've pulled a lot of shit out of their ass on this one.

Like I said I've enjoyed it but in the grand scheme of the universe it hasn't made a lot of sense.

Nah. They just used Filoni as an advisor. He has a very limited input in this. Director is Deborah Chow (she did do some Mando episodes) and Joby Harold is the main writer (also an executive producer). Really its an odd decision considering its Filoni's work with Clone Wars and Rebels that salvaged the prequels and filled in a lot of great details for that time period.

Just watched episode 5

Organa leaves galaxy-level important intel on an unsecured holomessage. I thought: yet another plot convenience / plot hole. I was right. Yawn.

Vader being a badass is always awesome

I thought that was a bit…. Off…. As well. But not as “off” as Reva choosing Leia as her bait to begin with.

The last Vader/Kenobi fight was really cool. Saved the episode and maybe the series. But overall, it just wasn't very good. Some good ideas in there but this needed more work.

Just watched Part 6.

So, they just made the ending of Ep3: Revenge of the Sith over again. How boring.
And why is Leía so attached? She didn’t want him to go? She barely knows him. That’s forgivable. She’s just a kid. Maybe?
But then why is Cube Jr. and the rest of the crew wanting him to stay when they know him leaving gives them their only chance?
And why the fuck did Kenovi tell Leia: “When you see your father, tell him I tried.” WTF?!? If she’s seeing her father, he succeeded in rescuing her. He didn’t try; he succeeded.
Do writers these days know the distinction between the characters and the audience? Astounding

The final battle between Obi-Wan and Vader was nice. When Vader was speaking with his helmet destroyed and had the mix of Anikan and Vader was awesome. It had its flaws but overall I enjoyed it.

It wasn’t what I was expecting as a whole, seemed rushed at times, production quality was spotty and wish they just hadn’t done it.

It drives me nuts that it doesn’t fit in perfectly with the original Star Wars. Too much happened that would have changed the character interactions and that’s just wrong.

Too strong of a character to get this story line.
