Straight Craziness

I have a deep fear of tsunamis. My wife thinks I am crazy. I dont know why, but I cant be near the ocean without having a direct escape route to higher ground. Not fucking around at all. Every time I am near the ocean I am always thinking about what I would do if the tide suddenly rolls out too far. I cant sleep near the ocean either. Most people think the waves are calming, but I am constantly trying to listen for inconsistencies in the wave patterns, and will not sleep for days. I dont like being around the ocean for very long.

My wife and kids all know. My son asked me, "you wanna go sleep up there, don't you?" pointing to a hotel up on the cliff side, about 80 feet off the water, from the beachside place we were staying at.

I also just spent 7 days on top of the world's largest active volcano. Slept like a baby. Still had a constant nagging voice in my head that "it could happen right now" quietly echoing around.

There is a reason I don't live in areas called "tornado Alley" or known for earthquakes/hurricanes/etc...
Kinda narrowed down the house search.

Sure, you may not have tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, etc... but you are about equidistant away from Yellowstone that when it erupts it won't kill you right off, but make you suffer.

Sleep well.
Where is it, anywhere in this hemisphere, that won't have the same problems? The planet for that matter. It could block out the sun for the whole planet, and mass starvation and famine would be the fate of most life. Except microbes and fungus.

Remember that children’s book about the 5 Chinese brothers and one had the ability to swallow the ocean? Then he killed his brothers when he couldn’t hold in the ocean any longer as they searched for treasure?

That book did a nice job of freaking me out about the ocean.

Desert rat afraid of water. haha

I watched a video on FaceBook a couple months or so ago on the anniversary of the Japan earthquake and subsequent tsunami of 2011.

It was very informative. What really amazed me about the events of that day was the length of the intial earthquake. Not only was it violent and strong...magnitude-9.0 earthquake...but it lasted for 6 minutes!

Imagine that the ground and as such....your world at that moment, it shaking up and down violently for 6 entire minutes unabated!

Those 6 minutes must have felt like 6 hours! It probably only took you 6 seconds to read this far...imagine 6 minutes!

Video won’t play for me.

I’ve seen naders in the distance. They’re not to be trifled with.

Watched a video years ago of the Indonesian tsunami. That would be the scariest shit imaginable

Also watched a video of an Indonesian band performing when a tsunami hit the stage from behind and washed it away.
