SUN BELT SUN BELT SUN BELT

How long before Conference USA gives up?

East:
JMU
ODU
Marshall
Appalachian State
Coastal Carolina
Georgia Southern
Georgia State

West:
Troy
South Alabama
Southern Miss
Louisiana
UL Monroe
Arkansas State
Texas State

also per article a Marshall decision should come by the end of the week.

its also expected that Texas Arlington and Arkansas Little Rock will leave the Sun Belt as non football schools.

if their plans for Marshall and JMU come through as expected.

They will replace MACtion

Where do the remaining teams in CUSA land? Anyone heard rumors? I would assume at this point they don't try to hold it together with 5 teams and I certainly don't know any they could add.

They’ve looked at New Mexico State and some FCS schools. Nothing for certain yet

i believe they only need to get to 8 to maintain conference status so New Mexico State is a warm body that helps even with no real value other wise

I'll make my own shitty predictions:

UTEP - Mountain West
FIU - Sun Belt
WKU - AAC
Middle Tennessee - Sun Belt
LaTech - Hell

middle tenn used to be Sun Belt and pretty much burned bridges on their exit

So did FIU. But, I think that can be overcome. Middle Tennessee could make sense in the AAC, Sun Belt or MAC, though.

I saw something where there was a group of schools they were looking to add but there wasn't one name that I can remember because none of them moved any kind of needle.

CUSA I suspect will survive but it will be a shell of itself.

The thing to watch will be if the Sunbelt gains serious ground on the AAC because from what I'm looking at it's a close comparison.

AAC
Alabama-Birmingham, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Navy, North Texas, Rice, SMU, South Florida, Temple, Texas-San Antonio, Tulane, Tulsa

Sunbelt
Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State, Troy plus add Old Dominion & Marshall.

Won't take much for the Sunbelt to be more relevant.

Boise State is still Boise state and has more reputation and clout than anyone in the Sun Belt. San Diego state has also built up a name and not just this season.
on average the MWC either has the highest ranked team between the two conference or has more teams ranked
currently San Diego State is higher than Coastal
2020 was Coastal and Louisiana ahead of San Jose but throw an * on it MWC played less games and wasnt eligible to be ranked early.
2019 App state highest but Air Force and Boise ranked.
2018 Fresno Utah State Boise ranked
2017 Boise ranked
2016 San Diego State ranked
2015 niether team had a ranked team but SDSU was the highest with votes
Im not saying the Sun Belt cant get there but MWC is still the better
