I chose "other" because I grew up with both being used to refer to the evening meal.

Just depended on which part of the family was referring to it.

I sat on an actual “Crapper” once o’er there.

Tank was up by the ceiling, had to pull a chain to flush.

Dinner is what every menu on the planet offers. Supper is when your grandma gives you soup she made from stuff she pulled from her garden.
 
Supper when I was young, dinner once I got married. Not that I gave a shit what you called it.

Midday meal is always lunch, never dinner.
