I was watching a show about the upcoming UM/TCU game. They were talking about TCU's defense. It is going to be really interesting to see what defensive sets TCU is going to be run. It says they are a 3-3-5 defense, but UM runs offensive sets with 2 and 3 TE's. There is no way they can stay with a 3-3-5 if UM lines up in sets like that. They will get run over.

Will also be interesting to see how UM does facing a defense that runs a 3-3-5, as we don't face anyone who uses that defense in the B1G.

Rich Rod tried to bring a 3-3-5 to the B1G when he took over at Michigan. We were absolutely shredded by everyone. Will be interesting to see what it looks like when we face TCU. Seems like that is a great defense to run if you are facing teams going 4 and 5 wide, but it is arguably the worst defense possible if you are facing a team lining up in 2/3 TE sets and running the ball. Really wish we had Corum facing this defense. Edwards is explosive, but he also hesitates to the hole sometime. I have a feeling we may see Mullins (the LB we moved to RB) a lot in this game, as he is tank and will be much more difficult for CB's to tackle.

TCU has no chance. They'll get killed. They could run a 10-1 and still not stop Michigan's run game.

I think it will be a good game. TCU has some size on the outside at WR and UM is susceptible to those jump ball situations. They could just throw it up to those guys. That is what MSU did with their one WR. They threw jump ball after jump ball and that guy came down with it over and over.

Not sure about using a 3-3-5 though. UM rarely ever go 4 wide, let alone 5 wide, so 5 defensive backs makes no sense. You will see 3 TE's on the field more than you will see UM go 4 or 5 wide. Will be an interesting contrast, as I know UM will have an offense TCU hasn't seen all year and TCU will use a defense Michigan hasn't went up against.

Also -- remember -- UM won't have Blake Corum, he is done for the year. Donovan Edwards is a tremendous running back, as he has ran for 200+ in the 2 games since Corum was out, but Corum is a much better RB for UM's offense. He rarely ever loses yards, is always falling forward for extra yards and his vision is so much better than Edwards. Edwards is simply much more explosive -- if he sees a hole and gets in the open field, not many guys chasing him down.

It wasn’t just the BIG, even in the BigEast and the Big12 the 3-3-5 made average TE’s look like All American TE’s. Several had career days vs that defense. That said it CAN be effective if the QB has trouble reading defenses.

If they go 3-3-5 I’d say Michigan will win… BIG

Michigan should be running a lot of play action. If Henning is healthy, get more jet sweeps involved. KSU did a great job with those against TCU
