That they could have John Wooden come back to life and coach a team with Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaq, and Patrick Ewing and they still wouldn't make a Final Four...

Such a useless program. Schools like George Mason and VCU have accomplished what Tennessee has failed to do in 100 years of basketball with a fraction of the budget.

Try being a UNLV fan. Go fuck off

Tennessee has been on the wrong side of some upsets this century, but all things considered, Tennessee has been a pretty good basketball program since the late 90's(I'd blindly guess it's probably a top 25/30 program in that timeframe). I can understand the frustration given some of the regular season success though. This is the longest period of sustained success since the mid 70's to early 80's.

UNLV has a Championship and made multiple Final 4s...

Nebraska has never won a NCAA Tourney game
I was talking to the hound dog. Mind your business. And UNLV hasn't been to a final four in 30 years.

It's hard to figure out what's going on. Tennessee has obviously been a good program and I think Rick Barnes is a good coach. But it's hard to ignore his lack of tournament success at Texas and that's continued at Tennessee. It could just be bad luck because he's had some good teams at Tennessee and at Texas

This was posted on VolNation and brings a great point. A lot of it is really horrible luck/fate. Teams tend to have our BEST game against us in the tournament while our teams tend to get cold.

Yeah, I feel for Nebraska. Especially in football. A lot of rough losses this year that you could have own. Tennessee has had a lot of fluke losses in our losing era as well, notably during the Butch Jones year in which we lost to Florida twice and Georgia once in weird and fluky ways.

My only assumption is that God must hate the Tennessee Volunteers. Someone committed blasphemy with the school or something.

I won't lie though, I am really starting to wish that they could play games at home arenas for the higher seed the first two rounds. If people want the regular season to matter than reward the higher seed for their body of work instead of putting them on neutral courts where they can get beat on an off shooting day to create upset drama.

I am almost wondering if the best teams are really winning it in Men's Basketball since one off note equals defeat often.

Higher seeds guys already get an edge by playing "weaker" teams. I feel for your loss, but bottom line, you lost. Man up and enjoy the season you had. There are 67 teams in the tourney who will end their season with a loss.

The upsets are really half of the appeal of the tourney so you cannot really take those away.

Although I just learned this year that they are doing that in the womens tourney and I never knew that

Yea, that's kind of how it is.

It'd take me some thought to put together a list of the 'luckiest' teams, but rest assured, Houston is on that list after last year.

UConn of old is also pretty lucky, but not current UConn.

I thought that team with Schofield and Grant Williams was a Final 4 team. But they drew a hot Purdue team, got a bad call in that game.

That is true but it can get frustrating if your team keeps going out early.

Dont wanna get too much egg on my face but.......

Comical everyone and their mother had Tennessee over Nova(who already pasted Tennessee this year)

I came to a conclusion, Tennessee's Men's Basketball program is by far the worse athletic program at the University. It is the only one to have no form of post season success.

Football - Has National Titles and major Bowl Game appearances even if it has been terrible for 15 years (ironically, Tennessee is still 2nd in SEC winning percentage for football and tied for 2nd with Georgia for 2nd most SEC Championships)

Women's Basketball - 8 National Titles and 18 Final Fours

Baseball - Several College World Series appearances (that sport's version of Final Fours) and a Runner-up Appearance

Softball - Runner-up Appearance and Several CWCS

Swimming - Has a National Title

Diving - Has National Titles

Track - Has National Titles

I cannot think of a sport we play that is more incompetent then our Men's Basketball program. I just want us to make a Final Four so that we are not an embarrassment anymore. It is more about a sense of pride now. Even George Mason, Loyola, VCU, and South Carolina have had Final Four runs recently.

@jontaejones btw Congrats on Nova winning the bracket.

Thanks.

Those schools you mentioned making it is a bit of good fortune and luck. They made it in their first shot. Usually you need many shots.

But other schools go through the same thing. UVA and Gonzaga and even Nova in recent times had the label of underacheiving, and they finally broke through.

It's all how many bites at the apple
