Tennessee & Nico in a contract dispute?

This is equal to the woman who "knows their value and aint gonna settle" who has no job and 3 kids from 3 different dads already demanding that any man she dates be a 10/10 on the looks scale with tons of money

I do feel bad for the kid. He is what, 19 or 20 years old? This isn't a pro making life decisions with his agent. This is a kid whose family saw dollar signs and tried to take advantage.
You don't get to hide behind "he's just a kid" when you are making $2.5 million a year, IMO.

he's a former player man... he's not tied to thinking institution first
As usual, RGIII with a dumb take. Look, no one cares that he is in the portal. What everyone is laughing at is that he was a mid QB last year, who didn't even earn the $2.5 million he was getting. He tried to leverage his team in the CFP. This is a guy the entire state of TN went to bat for, went to court for and got an injunction. They risked NCAA penalties to do what they did. So, when he asks for way more than anyone else is going to pay him and is given his walking papers, we don't care, we laugh. It's a big old helping of karma.

As to RGIII name the coach who asked for a raise, didn't get it, left his team but then couldn't find a job, or had to take a job for less money.

It still blows my mind that a dude who was a bottom half of his own conference level QB thinks he had the fire power to leverage for a big raise.

This would be like a coach who just went 7-5 at a major program busting into the ADs office and demanding a extension and raise.

I mean, I get it, you take that kinda cash people are going to hold you to a higher standard. However, a poor kid can still make the same dumb decisions as a rich kid when the people who are supposed to be guiding them are giving them bad advice. Also, when that rich kid used to be a poor kid (no idea Nicos situation but that is the situation of a lot of these kids)

If UT goes after Avery Johnson who just hit the portal that's an upgrade.

I hear what you are saying, but the dude has pocketed $5 million dollars. Do you know the percentage of people that make $5 million their entire lives? It's a very small number of people. So, yes, he is in a tough position. Do I feel for him? Nah, not for a second. He made a bad decision ... we all do many times in our lives. Now he can adjust to it, and see how it comes out on the other end.

All he had to do was wait til the portal opened back up tbh. Just a few more measly days and the “feel” to all of this would have been entirely different from the fanbases (well at least the ones who understand the current environment) as well as the potential suitors.
The timing was low rent amateur level bad by whoever is giving him advice (his dad from reports) .

"know your role" is the lesson here. It is a different tier system in the end. If Nico was a QB coming off like a 30+ TD/5 INT with some decent running stats to go along with it and good performances against good teams type season, then sure he could demand 2 million more dollars and probably get it. But he played like crap against any decent teams and the bulk of his meh stats were built up against Chattanooga, UTEP and Vanderbilt.
