Look I ran into this Pruitt several times when he was D.C. at Hoover High School under asshole Rush Propst and I've been shocked every time this guy has moved through the ranks because he comes across as dumbass dickhead. This does not shock me.

Don't know the situation, but seems pretty hard core.

Do you think it will help them or hurt them?

I don't know the dynamics but Pruitt had just hired the guy for two years, made he co-DC and they will owe him $650,000.

My guess is Pruitt chewed him out and Brombough wasn't going to take it. Pruitt has a reputation for being a hot head.

So the DL is what's hurting them?

The fans blew up about it because the defense is not the problem, the offense is. I am in a major UT group on Facebook and frequent Volnation. Things are ugly right now.

Is Pruitt on the hotseat? Herman in Austin is very hot.. and there is one coach ready to get another bump in pay if both UT and TN jobs are open...James Franklin

Pruitt is not on the hot seat. Fulmer gave him an extension coming into the season (I didn't understand why). I have a feeling that Pruitt may figure it out. All three seasons, we hit rock bottom and then came out of it. Tennessee has a bye after Alabama, I imagine they are using this time to figure out who should be QB. Alabama will kill us but we have a shot at making noise in the second half of the season after the Bye.

I bet Auburn and Texas both fire their coaches. I wouldn't be surprised if Hugh Freeze ends up back in the SEC at Auburn.

Right now it's Urban as the primary guy to replace Herman.. after that it drops off a cliff.. Franklin is probably #2 and that sucks because his time management bad

But Texas is not going to hire another G5 coach who's an "up and comer". They will hire someone who has several seasons experience at a P5 level. So no Fleck either

The question on Pruitt isn't Xs and Os, it's whether he can be a CEO of a top college football program. He's a great DC, but can he be a great HC? He can recruit, but can he keep his hotheadedness under control. He had some run-ins with Mark Richt that always made me wonder if he had the temperament. This move is evidence that he may not. Letting a DC go mid-season is bad enough, but seriously doing it during a game is ridiculous, absent some serious issues that haven't come to light yet. Not to mention, they have close to a million dollar buyout for the DL coach.

It's going to be interesting to see if he can keep it together. Last year he was able to. But all his losses so far are by a ton of points. You have Bama and Florida (please beat those reptiles), a much improved @ Arkansas, TAMU, @ Auburn, and Vanderbilt. Seriously, you could lose all those games with the likely exception of Vandy. That would be 3-7. 4-6 is more likely as you will may win one of Auburn or Arkansas. I think he can survive that, but it likely takes you out of contention for any prospects that are marginal - Neyland Green, Smael Mondon, TID - come to mind. I don't think that is hot seat material, but the talent margin will not get any better if recruiting suffers. You guys play UF, UGA, and Bama every year. Until your talent gets better, you start at 2-3 losses each year. Can he survive that?

I Don't want Hugh Freeze and I'm done with HS coaches.
He's fit in great, he can cheat with the best of them. Seriously, look at what he did at OM and at Liberty of all places. If he can recruit without cheating, and stay off thesex lines, he could be a good coach for you. Or, would Kiffin leave OM that quickly?

I'd be all in for Kiffin.

I am not calling for Gus to be fired but if he is then I hope we get UK's Stoops.
Just give it to Steele and let him hire an OC. When Arkansas wanted to hire Gus I told everyone we should do the following:

1. Tell Gus to hit the road
2. Sign Steele for 3mm a year until he proves himself
3. Give him 1mm each for a OC and DC of his choice
4. Give him another 1mm to spread as staying bonus for the coaches on the staff at that time that he wanted to keep

It was so freaking easy.

If Tommy Tubberville loses the senate race, he could be an option.

Auburn needs RichRod imo.

Make Auburn Watchable Again

Franklin is unlikely. He grew up in Pennsylvania as a major Penn State fan. Unless something is foul with the admin, he probably won't leave. Baylor's coach would be a good option (the one from last year) or Matt Campbell from Iowa State. @76cyclones, don't kill me.
