Tennessee's Pruitt Fires D-Line Coach During KY Game

I was listening to Bill King the other day and he was going off about this and UT. His point was Pruitt is stubborn as hell about replacing your QB and putting the younger kid in. FWIW - he was saying the UT veteran QB "was scared to throw" and it was useless keeping him in. May as well lose "with the future at QB" than doing it with a veteran QB that is severely limited. Made sense but curious to see what you think?

Agree for most part. JG is Jekyll and Hyde. When he is on, we can win. When he is off, we look like one of the worse teams in the SEC. I noticed that he doesn't handle pressure well. I think Pruitt had believed coming into the season that JG had turned the corner and I was hopeful as well. That hasn't happened. The greatest failure of this coaching staff is that they haven't developed a backup option.

The offensive line has also been disappointing at times. Someone mentioned that Trey Smith gets all this hype as being the best offensive linemen in the country but they don’t see this on the field or his leadership as a senior. He definitely has the skills to play on Sunday but I wish he could use it on Saturday. There isn't much senior leadership with our offense.

James Franklin leave State College for Texas or Tennessee?

why in the world would he do that???
Going to Texas would be an upgrade and a massive pay raise. Going to Tennessee would be a step back and no chance of success.

I don't remember who in this thread suggested Tennessee, but that make zero sense on any front for either side.

Texas would be a pay raise but I think Penn State is Franklin's ultimate job (for now). And I'm not even sure Texas would be interested in the guy, honestly.

If I’m Texas, I wouldn’t touch Franklin with aTm’s money. He is massively over rated and is only slightly better Harbaugh in big games. I would go for someone like Fickel or maybe Fleck.

Haven’t thought about your last sentence but agree with everything else! For some reason James Franklin seems well-suited to the Big Ten but Big XII or SEC? I just don’t see it.

His offenses have never been very spectacular and he had Saquon Barkley. I just don’t think he could keep up in a run and shoot League. He probably do ok at a top tier SEC school where he can use the brand name to his recruiting advantage like he can at Penn State. He didn’t do terrible at Vandy considering it was Vandy.

Up until he walked away with no notice, he was doing an absolutely stellar job at Vandy, which doesn't necessarily mean he'd do good eveywhere.
