Wants his release to retire, or go somewhere else? Dallas should sign him as a giant middle finger to HOU.
 
I'm sure he will join them before he retires one day. The franchise actually made a good decision....I mean they could have received a decent pick but what he meant to the organization all these years, honorable thing.

wouldn't honorable be playing out your last contract year?
wouldn't honorable be telling them - I would like to play for x, y , or z - can you trade me for something?

I'm sure they discussed that and realized no one was going to take on $17M for a breaking down JJ Watt in a reduced cap year. Texans would have had to pay something to unload it. As there is no cap hit to releasing him, that is about the only way he can move on.

And just a reminder... One of the reasons Rodgers only has 1 Lombardi is coaching Dallas right now...
