Texas A&M boosters paid $30 million for the top-overall 2022 class

I for one am glad that Jimbo straightened all these bogus rumors out and told it like it is, you message board types should be ashamed of yourselves.

He gets Alabama, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, posters like we have here, media folks and prob Texas as well all in the same rant, good stuff:

Jimbo should just shut up, sit back and enjoy it. From my experience, (and I’m old) when someone reacts like this they either have thin skin or…..

It's still largely the same. Nothing changes but the price. The big boosters were doling out cars or under the table "small" payments or off the books jobs for family or whatever else you can think of to hide it. The market changed so the price goes up. The faces sitting at the table haven't changed. And now the lights are turned on and you can see it. There's nothing to hide. Everyone sees what the ante is so they raise to compete. But the net result is still the same. Big programs with big pockets still get big players.

What's far more likely to happen, and you're starting to see it now based on some of the groups complaining, is those big boy programs will claim they need rules settle things down and "protect the integrity" of the game. But what they really want to do is protect their positions to prevent schools with big pockets that haven't traditionally been involved in football dealings from getting more involved. Think schools with rich alumni bases like Stanford or Cal. Or if Jordan just outright decides to pay everyone at UNC. But that's if those groups ever decide to care about football. Maybe they will, but I'd bet no. So what you're gonna have is what we've always had. Bama, UGA, the Texas schools, OU, OSU, etc, all the big name programs still pulling in all the big time recruits. The VTs, Iowas, etc of the world will be left picking up the leftovers, a 5 star here or there. A handful of 4 stars. Which...omg, exactly the way its been.
I agree with most of what you say, except why the big boys are saying what they are saying. If you don't think that Bama and UGA can compete with Stanford or Cal, I believe you are wrong. None of these rules are going to hurt the big boys - they have deep alumni, and plenty of money. They are the ones that have raised hundreds of millions for facilities. Bama just did a 600 million renovation project. You think they will not be able to keep up with TAMU? UGA same. I think that everyone just wants to know what the rules are. State law is pretty clear that (1) you can't use NIL for inducement to come to the school, and (2) NIL can't be given until the student athlete is enrolled. That does not appear to be what is going on at A$M and elsewhere. If that is going to be allowed, then put the guardrails in place and let's let it happen.

Proof?

CFB is officially ruined.
it was all good when you had a waiver for taking in 5th grade reading level kids who can run 4.5 40s? Or being able to sign so many walk ons that were handed the best quality of steroids? CFB was always shady, NIL didn't ruin anything.

.. how long til SEC at the request of it's coaches/ADs put in rules to make a cap on athlete paying collectives?

Mr Young, did you forget your wonderlic score? And Texas fans ridiculous obsession with partial qualifiers is absurd and hypocritical. What sense does it make to refuse a kid to come to your school when he can't see the field until his grades measure up in the first place? Partial qualifiers should 1000% be allowed. No actual proof of steroid use, your SnC program just didn't measure up back then. And now you want to bitch about walk-ons too? So now you are upset about people paying their own way. WTF is wrong with you tards?

NIL is absolutely ruining football, you just happen to like that.

lol obsession, that's what Osborne was.. always blaming Texas for everything.. VY scored low on a wonderlic test sure, but he wasn't as dumb as lawrence phillips who btw got a waiver to get in.

"In a 1987 article in SI, Dean Steinkuhler, the 1983 Outland Trophy winner, admitted that he used steroids while a guard at Nebraska, and the 1989 book Big Red Confidential: Inside Nebraska Football, written by former SI staffer Armen Keteyian, stated that steroid use was widespread among the Huskers."

But yes let's blame NIL on the destruction of CFB.. cause it was such an innocent sport, right?

How is Texas not to blame exactly? You through fits, whined and bitched to do anything and everything you could to bring Nebraska down because you sucked, you happened to gain the following of most of the other Big 8 members since they were in our shadow at the time too.

Bitch about LP. No way does VY qualify being that stupid without some fake as grades. Miss me with your whiny bullshit.

As I said, no proof. And act like Texas does no wrong when you are one of the slimiest programs in history and actually needed the Big 8 to stay afloat and save your ass from your pathetic, corrupt, weak-ass SWC.

Innocent sport? Are you seriously going to take a position in that 'rules were broken in the past, so we should allow pay for play'...

what was it you said...

lol we did everything to bring Nebraska down? lol like we really needed help to do that

According to Jimbo there's no 30m fund
No. Jimbo said there isn’t a a huge NIL find, which is 100% true. HS kids in Texas can not sign NIL deals. They can take bags though
