I fully admit mines a guess. The difference is I can admit that. Your ego is so damn high you can’t admit when you get things wrong or that you don’t know everything that will go on.

Thankfully, I am more careful about how I phrase things so that it is a rare occurrence.

Here is the thing, the Big12 lost when it comes to all-time and profitability the #3 - #6 programs in that first couple of years of realignment. That HURT. The gap between OU and Texas and the next-highest Big12 team was far greater than before the realignment and it made the Big12 less of a marketable league.

They also lost three entire states and TV markets such as Denver, Kansas City, Omaha, and St. Louis.

I know Colorado had issues but they were more of a brand than anything in the Big12. Nebraska was a blue blood brand that had hit hard times but was still must watch. Texas A&M is a decent program with strong fanbase. Missouri is the only program in a decent size state and was doing well with Gary Pinkel. The Big12 lost a lot with those 4 teams and the league was a dead man walking after it.

TCU had competitive teams but wasn't the brand and didn't have the fan base of the Aggies.
West Virginia is a good program but they were just too far away from the Big12 to be relevant.
 
i didn't dig deep, but found it funny how he still subliminally gets at them..even though he just let UT and ou walk out the door and shockingly, he had no idea

That will never happen. The powers that be will not let a G5 team in the playoffs. It would need to go to 16 teams to have a chance at that.

Maybe... I think if the G5 team is undefeated and in the top 10, they have a shot. If they have 2 or more losses, they are definitely not in and probably don't deserve to be in.

The polling changes with the system. Back in 2010/11 Boise and TCU were top 4 most of the season as a G5 schools andTCU even finished #2 IIRC.... the playoff system starts and the highest ranked G5 school we have even seen is 2017 UCF at #8 I think.

The powers that be, coaches/ADs, media, etc... won't let it happen. They are afraid on the money loss from a traditional P5 and afraid of losing brand by possibly losing to a G5 school. If they lose, then it helps the argument that P5 and G5 don't actually matter. They want you to believe in a power difference, that no, not anyone can win any given Saturday.

Maybe I missed something in this thread, but the CFP 12 team format is guaranteed to have at least 1 G5 team in it. Could be 2, although that is unlikely.

I haven't read the 12 team to be honest, but I will believe it when I see it. Put it that way.

Ok. Basically, until the OU/TX move, this was a done deal. Most people think it's still a done deal with a small adjustment.

The done deal clearly includes at least one G5 every year.

It’ll still happen. Other conferences are bluffing. These other Power conferences are the ones that want it most and it’s more money for all. (Who make it)

Oh, I know and agree. They are pitching a fit right now, but they will come around. The conferences whining the most get the most from it ... money and appearances.

Nothing has even been officially announced, but ok.

And byes never make sense athletically. Every team needs to show up and win every round, byes are bullshit cop outs.
