Texas Spends 35 to 40 Million On Their Roster

As a bonus, the NCAA which is just the schools organizing together put an artificial limit on scholarships. So the amount of revenue these kids could bring in was limitless, but the money they had to "pay" out in forms of housing and food was severely restricted "for the sake of competition".
Nah, miss me with this nonsense.
wish i could rep this 1000000000000X

lol bro so the writer who put those numbers out (kirk bohls).. his source was the IN HC LOL

He had a session talking and he named Texas, tosu, Oregon as schools that possibly have that high of a payroll LOL

So you're being honest and equating college athletes with pro players. That's exactly the problem in a nutshell with what's happened to college football. It's just a bunch of pros masquerading as students. It's a farce.
Gee, I wonder which of us has been advocating for paying players on these various boards since 1999 so that all the issues with transfer protocol, revenue sharing, spending caps, etc could have been worked out long ago … all while meeting resistance from almost every one of y’all the entire time. Hmmmmm.

Dude, you've been pitching a scheme for years that was inevitably going to lead to the mess college sports is in now. Don't keep patting yourself on the back. You were never willing or able to present a coherent system of checks and balances to make something like NIL actually work in the real world. Simply saying you wanted these poor exploited players to "be treated fairly" doesn't get it done. Like most Libertarians, you were big on the talk and weak on the implementation. But Texas is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Wild West Show that's now commonly referred to as college athletics so good for you. But next time, actually put some thought into making sure what you're asking for doesn't turn out to be worse than what you're fighting.

Incorrect, dunce. I’ve always stated explicitly that the majority of monies need to come from actual pay instead of Wild West type nil schemes... precisely so that a fair, sustainable league could form, eg, revenue sharing, transfer protocols, contracts, etc. You’re just lying now.

If the value of an expensive education, developing your talent, building relationships that will help you later in life and having it better than 90% of the students on campus isn't enough for you then don't play sports and do it the same way most students go to school: take out some some loans and work odd jobs to get by. You didn't build that university or its sports program; you're the beneficiary of thousands of people who went before you and have provided you with a great opportunity to play a sport you love and give you an opportunity to enjoy being in the limelight. God gave you that talent and you're damn lucky to have it. Be thankful for it and stop acting like everyone owes you something because you have been blessed with an opportunity a lot of people can only dream about.

“WHAT STOPS A PLAYER FROM THREATENING TO LEAVE TO GET MORE NIL?”

What do I think about someone *negotiating their compensation*? I’ve been extremely clear on that. Everyone in any industry deserves to do that. I’ve written that line on these forums a couple of dozen times.
The reason why we’re in the Wild West right now when it comes to this is because the Schools under the ncaa have colluded to keep principals from negotiating for their compensation for decades, and now they’re getting caught with their pants down.
Now, we have to scramble to create a system that lets principals get paid and also ensures a viable league. This should have happened naturally over the last few decades, but the ncaa didn’t let it happen purposefully and greedily.
i have also said the above a few dozen times on here.
