Texpectations: Longhorn Superthread

I thought he was OK for game one, but he needs to take a big step to beat someone like KSU. There wasn’t a ton of pressure. BYU offense was absolutely putrid. The defense and special teams outscored them. This is game where mistakes could have major ramifications. Not sure why people get their panties in a wad when you point out the obvious.
obviously he still sucks

Five times now: GET DOUBLE DIGIT LEAD WITH HEISMAN LEVEL RUNNING BACKS. STOP RUNNING BALL IN SECOND HALF CUZ REASONS. LOSE LATE. RINSE. REPEAT. #sarkball #longhorn #football

And we had single digit leads late vs. Baylor and Bama.

We have had VERY good teams right where we want them, and the means (running game) to finish the job.

This is not normal. There is something deeply wrong.
The players will start to give up.
Something must be done. And quickly.
Allow myself to quote myself

thank you for using the timeout

lol no i meant it.. but it's expected
Those bad habits showed up. It’s pretty clear Maalik is not ready yet. KSU came out with an absolutely stupid game plan. Once they played some coverage, Maalik was completely lost

what FR QB is ready in his 2nd start.. ESPECIALLY with all the weight in the world with everything in front of them.. it's tough

now i gotta listen or read about how Arch needs to start next week... on the road vs TCU.. Maalik needs to understand it's ok to just throw the ball away out of bounds.. not forcing a pass to a defender

He’s not even forcing passes. He’s throwing a backfoot floater into an area for???reasons???
Like Ehlinger or James Brown back in the day.

man he forced that ball on the screen that happened during the avalanche.. we had our center there..not even our RB lol.. he got pressure and forced it

I’m not gonna play semantic games.
Forcing it* means something like trying to thread the needle to some dude in heavy or tight coverage. That’s not what happened.

He’s literally just floating balls off his back foot to some general area.

I am not sure there is a good answer outside of pray to the Gods that Quinn is healthy. People will want Arch. MM has 4-5 turnovers in 2 games and multiple dropped ints. People don’t like what they have seen from MM, so they want to see the unseen. That said, there were idiots that wanted to Maalik when Quinn was throwing up top 20 numbers

Here’s a hint, and I know you’ve ignored it EIGHT TIMES, now, Sark: When you have a double digit lead on a ranked opponent late in the game and you’re gaining 7.7 yards per carry, and you have very successful future nfl-caliber running backs, and the clock is on your side ….. maaayyyybe you run the ball.

That was one thing I thought Sark screwed up. The 2nd to last drive in the first half (up 17 with like 5 minutes to go), he needed to run there. He can’t help himself sometimes, has to go for the big play

Sometimes? eight times with leads (six times double digit) over ranked opponents

oh you mean the way he tried to thread it to sanders in the ez that should have been picked?

he tried running it.. brooks was gimpy and CJ was hit or miss.. that screen pass int was on 3rd down and long after a run went no where

Looks like Quinn will get the go afterall..

Earlier this morning on XM.. Dusty said Quinn will be starting.. then Anwar on his Live show earlier talked to his source.. and said his percentages were 75% that Quinn starts Saturday.

i would take a less than 100% Quinn over Maalik on the road.. kid is just to erratic with some very VERY questionable decisions on his throws
