Texpectations: Longhorn Superthread

He may have been 9th in QBR but there was no one worse in the B12 then Jared Doege overall. That dudes a joke.
Doege outplayed Thompson head to head too

WR coach Andre Coleman is out...

Maybe I should start a new business. I've got a decent command of the English language and I'm a whiz at penning saccharine sentiments and pithy tales of redemption. I'm gonna start writing farewell letters for these guys who hit the transfer portal.

just a rumor but UT is apparently after Marion the WR coach at Pitt.. seems like Addison is also thinking about portaling

It wasn't close to 2 million.
It could have been that much if he actually became the starter. He had deals in the wings just waiting for him to take over, which wasn't going to happen any time soon.

NFL money >>>> NIL money. If he is as good as advertised, he would have been best to finish high school, come to Ohio State with his class, sit for a year and learn from the best QB coach (Ryan Day) in the NCAA and be the #1 pick after his third year.
Just wondering. Why do you think Day is “ the best QB coach in the NCAA”?

I have watched OSU and they remind me of the Mack teams before the fall. Offense is good. The talent is great, but they have looked soft the last few years.

I mean Day’s done well with what Urban left and building on it. No natties but solid. I’m just wondering what he thinks separates Day from others as being the premiere QB coach in the NCAA.

i think he's good but as the best? Not enough skins on the wall to say that right now.

But with how CFB is changing, and how impatient QBs are... It probably will come to whichever coach has a system in place that's easy for an elite QB to flourish in from day 1. The days of opening the playbook for the QB you have are dying.

And everything will end up being a mercenary two-way street. If a coach is thinking "that f'n Goldbug's never gonna learn to run "my offense" the way I want it run, I've gotta go get Thiefery through the transfer portal and my problems are fixed", good old Goldbug's screwed no matter what his dreams are or how his family feels about being run off. This portal thing is also going to make it a LOT easier to be a college football coach because if you can't judge high school talent that well then you can just sit back and go get yourself a Baker Mayfield or a Kyler Murray or a Jalen Hurts.........or a Caleb Williams. OU's already shown the world how developing a player from scratch is So Yesterday. There won't be any more problems signing a guy and being stuck with him because you have to be a pretty good coach to turn someone into a really good player. Just go down to the Players 'R Us store and pick one off the shelf. (The coaches win again in the new system.)

Russell Wilson is the first I can recall. Everyone remembers Wisconsin but forgets NC State.

Heard the other day that big schools are going to have to think more like a junior college mentality. “We’re only going to have them a year or two.”

Coaches will need the skill to “mesh” semi developed or already developed transfers with the ones they have and are developing. A lot more than they have in the past. JMO

There is already complaints rolling in about Saban and Bama tampering. Rumor was Saban is having players reach out to friends on opposing teams. LSU boards were first to put it out. The source maybe questionable, but it makes sense to me. If there is one thing Saban has always been the best at it is working the system and turning the roster over

He’s always been good at roster management. I’m sure he and others are reaching out exactly as you describe….especially in areas of need. Hell, portal recruiting may become more important than recruiting high school kids.

Yeah. Don't blame Saban or Bama.

Fuck Eli Ricks

Tail wagging the dog type of thing... So, for right now, I'm just sitting back and...

:pop2::martini:

CFB may end up being a total 'shit show' in a few years. :rolleyes2:

Ewers has four years of eligibility, yes?
So, why would Arch pick Texas?
Either Ewers is doing really well, and therefore will not be replaced, or…
Longhorns have a terrible 2022, and Arch fights to win the starting spot of a terrible 2023 team with a desperate, hot-seat coach.
I’ll say the same thing I said from the VERY beginning… Arch isn’t coming to a school with a newly minted starting QB.
Do y’all even logic???
