Comparing the two Giants QB’s.

Simms had only 11 4Q comebacks and 17 GW drives.
Eli had 27 4Q comebacks and 37 GW drives

I watched both guys play. Simms was the better player IMO. You can post the same kind of numbers for QB's against Troy Aikmans numbers. The game is different now than it was back then. Eli wouldn't have faired well at all in an era when WR's could be held, knocked out by FS's and QB's could be choke slammed.

We have the same opinion on most things but I would take Eli. If you need a game manager, a guy that won't typically make a big mistake then Simms is your guy but he is not the gunslinger that is gonna put 40 on the board and carry you to victory, I don't think Eli is even top 10 at that but I would rather have him than Simms and I always liked Simms. Both players kinda won because of their defenses and both guys did almost nothing in the playoffs aside from their super bowl runs. Simms also had LT and Parcells for most of his career.

I had Simms and Eli 1 and 2. Was never a fan of the Giants or most NY teams for that matter. The Giants defense was definitely on another level in the 80’s. With all the focus on the defense I think Simms got lost in the shuffle a bit. As per Simms I gave him the edge. I wouldn’t call him a game manager Simms made some pretty big plays against some rough defenses. With WR’s like Stephen Baker, Mark Ingram sr, McConkey etc. And did it so well I hated Simms. He was a very under rated QB and a bigger part of those teams than some may realize. And he was definitely clutch imo.

I had Eli as a close second. While Eli didn’t have the 80’s Giants defense the Giants still had a solid defense and Strahan and the giants defense were very disruptive. The Giants defense played a major role in the super bowl win vs the unbeaten Pats imo. Eli also did have better WR’s Plax , ODB etc. But I also think Eli was another very under rated QB also very clutch it was tight but I had Simms ranked 1 with Eli a close second.

Top tier for me was
Simms
Eli
Boomer
Bledsoe

But that’s just my opinion. Ranking players by position after the draft does sound fun tho. I always enjoy everyone’s assessments y’all have a lot of knowledge and experience it’s always a pleasure to talk sports with y’all

Eli has 2 SB's as well, but their D won them. As a Cowboys fan, I always knew Simms was accurate and a tough SOB. I always thought Eli sucked lol

Great to see the differing opinions. I feel I got the best QB in this draft in Boomer. If he was on better teams he could’ve made the HOF IMO
