The 21st Century all bust team

I can't believe not a single one of you Braves fans has mentioned Andy Marte yet.
Easy to forget. But he was supposed to be the guy that forced Chipper out of Atlanta. I’d still call Lawrie a bigger bust though. If I made a bench though...

Rangers and Rangers. We love ourselves a cheap body to throw out there and hope for the best :L
Hamilton worked out fine for y’all and Bush wasn’t terrible for y’all. But I keep waiting to hear that Hamilton has ran out of money and OD’d

I'm looking at old sim league drafts now and it's wild how many names you forget and how quickly you forget how excited people were. Josh Barfield! Matt LaPorta! There are so many names, this game is hard

Marte was ranked higher as a minor leaguer and did less as a major leaguer. It's splitting hairs, there are a ton of possibilities.

He just doesn’t really stick in the minds of Braves fans. Chipper was still productive and we traded him for Edgar Renteria, who had a good stint with the Braves. He definitely has a case, but that’s why he doesn’t really register much with Braves fans today. Those 06-09 Braves teams were pretty forgettable for a lot of reasons

@BigRedMoe come give us the lowdown on Bubba Starling
4 (?) sport star from Gardner just outside of KC. Signed with a Nebraska as a highly rated dual threat QB. Drafted by his hometown Royals. Was on campus at UNL most likely to drive up the price of his signing bonus.... which worked. He left Nebraska and went into the Royals farm system where he struggled but progressed. Had some good minor league numbers. Got a shot at the bigs and did not capitalize. I think they ran out of options on him a couple seasons ago. Should have stayed at Nebraska. Hindsight is 20/20 en sech.

Tanner Scheppers feels like a decent fit for the reliever spot even though he never "closed" in the majors. That's a weird spot to pick because I was trying to pick a guy who was always a reliever rather than a failed starter.

Most of your guys that spent their entire minor league career in the pen don’t make it too high on the prospect list. In Atlanta, there was a lot of hype around Mauricio Cabrera and Shae Simmons, each was gonna be the closer of the future, both had decent starts to their MLB careers, don’t think either one is even still in baseball, don’t think either were ever on the top 100 though

The Pirates once refused to trade for Ryan Howard because they felt set with Brad Eldred

Wouldn't put him on the all-timer bust list but definitely a team all-time one.

Also, as much as it hurts, Khalil Greene was suppose to be a big deal

Dom Brown is a good one. Gavin Floyd looked to be a bust before he finally got straightened out in Chicago.

I thought about leaving Brown off because he did have that one really good season, but was shit before and was shit after.

Only thing I really remember about Gavin Floyd is him breaking his elbow throwing a pitch for the Braves in one of the rebuild years

Brown was supposed to be part of the next group. Once he fizzled, and the "baby aces" (lulz) never got out of the minors, it put the writing on the wall that the cupboard was bare.

I 'member getting duped by Brown in fantasy way back when

:gaah:

Julio Teheran, Mike Minor and Randal Delgado was supposed to be the next Big 3 for the Braves. Teheran was decent, but never lived up to the hype, injuries derailed Minor and I think Delgado was part of the Justin Upton trade

Wasn't really fair to these guys, as none of them were ever really touted to be studs, but only one of them had any kind of MLB career (May) and they traded him for Ben freaking Revere.

Still not as bad as Generation K IMO. LOL @ the Mets

The Rangers had "DVD". John Danks, Edison Volquez, and someone Diamond. The only thing good any of them did was get us Josh.
