The B10's Weaponization of clean cash is shifting power dynamics from south to north

This year we lost Offord at the last minute to a NIL bag as well. Dorian Brew was considered a Ohio State lock as well until Oregon swung the bag. 2 5* there

We lost a mid level DL recruit to a bag to Colorado as well.

Keeping Chris Henry Jr for 2026 is going to be a gigantic battle as well the bags are already being thrown.

We don't get "everyone" we want, it could be worse for sure but we have lost our fair share of recruits to bags from elsewhere. Anytime we are up against a Oregon Miami or Texas A&M type for a recruit or transfer I just assume we aren't getting them now.
when Arch plants the flag Labor Day Weekend.. all your recruits belong to us!!!!!!!!

they don't want money, they want pizazz!!!

Yeah. Heard Uncle Phil gave Offord his own show. We will see if that ends up being true but that's a tough bag to compete with.

I'm hoping Henry has the same outlook as Jeremiah Smith. Smith was offered more money but didn't give a shit bc he trusted Hartline to make him the best receiver he could be.

Walton seems to have the recruiting process to get these DBs seriously interested but doesn't have the track record yet of getting them picked in the first round to overcome bigger offers

Changing the argument? They have been liquidating stocks all over the place and taking the tax hit. You said that rich people don't do that.
You went from a billionaire to a group of companies, and want to bitch about me "changing the argument"?

Early chatter that we may lose Victor Singleton to the Oregon bag for 2026 as well. That would be more crushing than Offord considering Singleton is a in state kid. Offord was a southern recruit who seemed checked out for months leading up to the actual flip.

I will give you that they were "paid" in different ways before NIL and definitely less value. Quite a bit harder to hide a 250k bag before NIL
There have always been "$100 handshakes" and cushy jobs - back in the 70's The Buckeye football players were paid $10/hr at summer jobs by Galbraith Farms to paint their lily-white fences.

Warren Buffet IS Berkshire Hathaway.

Warren Buffet IS Berkshire Hathaway.
No, he isn't. Berkshire Hathaway isn't even Berkshire Hathaway! Berkshire is a conglomerate including a holding company that owns many other companies. Buffet is the chairman of the board. :L

Somehow this has turned into trying to teach a business class to a group of retarded paste eating monkeys

Have to give maize the nod with a super troll of cfb.

Just out of curiosity, not ragging at all. Do you know how many you guys have gotten from other schools by upping your ante above the school they originally committed to?

We got the big name transfers this season (Howard, McLaughlin, Downs, Judkins) and I'm pretty sure Ohio State had to up their offer to Jeremiah Smith to keep him but I'm having trouble thinking of a single recruit that flipped to Ohio state last minute from another big time program. I'm sure they are out there just cant think of any off the top of my head. Supposedly we came very close to stealing David Sanders from Tennessee

But, recruiting like that is relative. You may not get all the ones you got in the past - NIL is definitely peeling off players here and there. That's why recruiting points are dropping and/or flattening out. But, relative to everyone else, you will still have a far more talented roster than Miami. The first team to buy a team that wins the NC will be the first. The top teams have been the top teams for a long time and that isn't going away. Just more parity and talent spread around more.
For sure, you're not wrong. I was moreso pointing out that I do think, especially with recruiting rankings, the talent is going to be spread out like we've never seen it before. It's not a guarantee that the majority of 5* kids will go to OSU/UGA/Bama/LSU/Clemson like in years past. Moving forward, I would be thrilled if OSU is reeling in even three 5* kids in a class.

This was extremely close. It honestly was a bidding war and the package UT gave him was otherworldly. I'm honestly fine with that. With the portal being what it is, I'd almost rather be bringing in OL that way, with kids that already have development and get them into our system. Not saying we don't recruit HS kids on the OL, but the portal is an awesome alternative.

Ohio State seems to have settled in this as well. Save the really big NIL offers for transfers or convincing current starters with eligibility to return. It's probably a better route, honestly

That's the key, and what teams will figure out. Keep what you know and what you want to keep.

Thanks. I just thought if you lost some it would free up funds you could use to go after others of similar caliber committed elsewhere.
