I was calling a high school game once and this is what occurred:Fuck Yeah I care.
I saw back to back to back fumbles in a game last weekend.
That's shit you don't get to see much.
Has to be a record.
I hate to admit but I'm pretty much there as well. If baseball had started close to time and made a big deal of playing for the good of the country I probably would have been all in but by the time the started and all the BS politics that followed it I had zero desire. It will be years before I watch another NBA game (not that I did much anyway but was always in on the playoffs).I watched a little of the Arkansas St v Memphis game but for some reason I am just a little tuned out by sports in general right now and I fuckin' hate it!
Reminds me something I heard a baseball coach tell the kid keeping the stats one day. (Back when it was all on paper.) There was a weird blooper hit and nearly every player in the field kicked it/threw it/fumbled it all over the yard and the other teams' base runners screwed up as well. The student stat guy asked the coach "How to I put that one in the book?" The coach said, "Don't worry about scoring it in the normal fashion. Just write 'CF' in that spot and I'll know what it means."I was calling a high school game once and this is what occurred:
1. The visiting team punted and the punt returner ran the ball 25 yards and then got stripped of the football.
2. The guy that stripped the football got hit from behind and fumbled which bounced into the arms of the home team.
3. Home team ran this back to about the original line of scrimmage and fumble it and the visiting team fell on it.
We have a program that we put plays into to track the stats as we are doing the game. I can promise you the programmers never anticipated that kind of shit show because we couldn't figure out how to log the play into the system. We basically had to give the returner a return back to the LOS and then charge him with the fumble. Our team was the home team and our coach has been on the job 40 years....I thought he was going to walk off the field after that one.
What's funny as the play is happening it's exciting because it's crazy but at the same time he hits you pretty quick "WTF am I going to do with this". When you keep stats you view the game at a very different level and if you're spotting you actually miss a lot of what is going on. When I've spotted someone has asked me if I saw that receiver wide open and I don't have a clue because I have to keep my eye on the ball at all times. You have to know who has the ball, how far they went and who tackled them (which can be anywhere from one guy to the entire team). Punts suck because you have to know who is kicking, what yard line they kicked it from, where it got caught, who caught it, how far they returned it and who tackled them. All of it goes into the system and parents look at it and if you miss little Johnny's play or get the wrong number down of who did what, it hurts their feelings. Most of them are pretty good-natured about it but I can promise you Momma's don't like it if you mispronounced their baby's names.Reminds me something I heard a baseball coach tell the kid keeping the stats one day. I've got two weeks but I do have high hopes for this weekend. Rain is on the forecast for Sat so I should be good to watch all day.I’ll start caring in a few days.
One in a row!How 'bout them Miners, @Deep Creek?
Gotta start somewhere! At least they've played a game already, unlike us PAC12ers...One in a row!
