The College FB Playoff Thread…powered by butthurt

Okay. Nothing in my post about FSU.

If it's about the 4 best teams in the country...why is Georgia out? Virtually everyone I've seen/heard seems to think that Georgia would be favored against every team in the cfp, including Bama.

So why are they not in and why is FSU ranked ahead of them if it's really about the "4 best teams"?
If it is about the 4 best teams ... Georgia would be in, then pick 3 more from Texas, ohio state, Michigan, Washington, Oregon and Florida State. Alabama might be on this list, but they lost to Texas and they were saved by a Hail Mary with Auburn. The best teams don't always get in the playoffs or win the championship, but the teams that win do (or at least they should).

He's kind of right, but insert the ACC commish for Desantis. That guy sucks.

We will have to let all the other power 5 teams know that FSU was the first to be left out.

I don't think FSU is a top 4 team right now. But, they did go unbeaten and it seems really silly that they're on the outside looking in.

Bring on the expanded playoff!

I understand. I just wanted to see Ohio State vs FSU/Oregon or GA.

Oregon vs Liberty is even worse.
We are getting the final shitty subpar bowl season we deserve without a remotely decent playoff.

next year we get 11 playoff games instead of 3.

Oh lawd, i just saw we're playing Mizzou at Jerry World.

Despite proximity, i don't think im gonna attend that one.

Yea lol

No one is excited lol

Will be lucky to have any of the starting skill players

If you change the bolded to "committee went with the 4 best conference championship teams" the statement becomes correct and explains UGA being out.

But that's not the narrative the SEC homers are pushing. They are saying it's the 4 best teams. No one seems to be able to explain why UGA isn't in given that metric.

So, is it the 4 most deserving teams? The 4 best teams? or the 4 best conference champions?

And, bonus question...Why, when faced with the possibility of no SEC in the playoff, was an unbeaten P5 conference champion left out.

And not buying the "backup QB" thing either because it's not the first time a backup QB has had to play...or am I the only one who remembers Cardale "we ain't here to play school" Jones?

Florida St was in the Top 4 in four of the five CFB Playoff Rankings prior to yesterday.

The obvious criteria of the committee was to rank 'undefeated' teams first then rank the one loss teams.

What changed five weeks in a row of their criteria?

'What changed' was they were faced with leaving an SEC team out.

Week 10

1. Ohio St (8-0)
2. Georgia (8-0)
3. Michigan (8-0)
4. Florida St (8-0)
5. Washington (8-0)
6. Oregon (7-1)

Week 11

1. Ohio St (9-0)
2. Georgia (9-0)
3. Michigan (9-0)
4. Florida St (9-0)
5. Washington (9-0)
6. Oregon (8-1)

Week 12

1. Georgia (10-0)
2. Ohio St (10-0)
3. Michigan (10-0)
4. Florida St (10-0)
5. Washington (10-0)
6. Oregon (9-1)

Week 13

1. Georgia (11-0)
2. Ohio St (11-0)
3. Michigan (11-0)
4. Washington (11-0)
5. Florida St (11-0)
6. Oregon (10-1)

Week 14

1. Georgia (12-0)
2. Michigan (12-0)
3. Washington (12-0)
4. Florida St (12-0)
5. Oregon (11-1)

Week 15

1. Michigan (13-0)
2. Washington (13-0)
3. tejas (12-1)
4. Alabama (12-1)
5. Florida St (13-0)

If Georgia were to beat Alabama and hand them their second loss, then Georgia would have stayed #1 and Florida St would have been in the CFP at #4 because the committee gotten an SEC team in.

problem is that we just witnessed Bama beat them on a neutral field.. It's the same thing I felt if the Ducks had beaten the huskies..even by 3.. Udub would fall out the top 4 regardless

don't lose in the CCG

But if it's truly the 4 best teams, UGA should be in regardless of the CCG result since most seem to think they would be favored against anyone.

Have we not seen 2 SEC teams in the cfp before based on that very criteria?

For my money, undefeated P5 champs should be a no brainer. But I can see the logic in saying that Alabama is a better team. If the record is a be all/end all, then Liberty should be in. I bet the ACC hates that they blocked this season from having a 12 team playoff.
And, bonus question...Why, when faced with the possibility of no SEC in the playoff, was an unbeaten P5 conference champion left out.

Were FSU and Bama to play tomorrow, who do you put your hard earned money on in a straight up, no point spread bet? I'm guessing most bet on Alabama. Not saying that is how the game will turn out, but it does answer why FSU is out ... enough of the right people think they are not as good as Alabama or Texas.

The best part of the best team argument is that it is ridiculous. The SEC as a whole beat 1 non conf opponent that is currently ranked (Kentucky over Louisville), People hype up Michigan’s 2 wins over top 10 teams. Penn st beat nobody with a pulse in the non conf schedule and Ohio st beat an ok Notre dame on a last second play. Everything is subjective off of preseason rankings and how strong a conference looks on paper. That’s why the most deserving should always be the answer. I’m glad the shitshow ends this yr

At some point results on the field have to matter. But the committee seems to pick and choose when that happens. Their "criteria" is complete BS, they just make it up as they go in any given year and form it in the end to fit what they want.

Lol it never ends, we just get to see the arguments every year of who the last couple of teams to slide into the 12 team playoff should be.

Screwing over a 2 loss team won’t bother me as much as watching the shit we seen yesterday. At least now everybody controls their own destiny. Go undefeated and you see in

Hell for P5 teams you can lose a game and still get in. Just don't lose twice.

The committee should give the championship to Georgia because they are the best team ... Wins obviously don't mean anything. The whole Florida State thing really pisses me off!!!

and Florida St would have been in the CFP at #4 because the committee gotten an SEC team in.
That looks like that wouldn't be the case. They jumped Texas from #7 to #3. They jumped Texas over Fla. St. because Georgia lost? If they wanted a SEC team that bad, they could have moved Fla. St. to #3, put bama #4 and said, Fuck you Texas. I believe they didn't want Fla. St. in no matter what happened. Georgia wins or loses, they still moved Texas ahead of Fla. St. I believe when FSU lost their qb and then didn't look very good in the game against Louisville, FSU was screwed. Florida State got the royal fuck-over in this case.
A conference championship doesn't get an auto-bid, but mother fuck, to leave out an undefeated P5 CC is unbelievable. Bring in Texas or Alabama as #4 and tell the other one, "Here's your Participation Bowl invite, now hit the road".
I told one dunce on here, never underestimate the SEC prejudice that's out there. Looks like it's alive and well.

Yes.

In order to justify putting Alabama in, they had to put tejas in because tejas won the H2H.

Florida St should have been #3 and tejas #4.
